Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) — a vocal critic of President Joe Biden’s handling of the war between Israel and Hamas — is urging Michigan Democrats to vote against the commander-in-chief in the state’s primary next week.

In a video posted to the social media account of a progressive group called Listen to Michigan — which is leading a campaign against the president over his handling of the conflict — Tlaib called for her home state’s Democrats to vote “uncommitted” in the Feb. 27 primary.

“If you want us to be louder, then come here and vote uncommitted,” Tlaib said. She added, “Enough is enough. We don’t want a country that supports wars and bombs and destruction. We want to support life. We want to support life. We want to stand up for every single life killed in Gaza.”

The call for a protest vote against Biden follows a reported meeting between Tlaib and Biden’s campaign manager, Julie Chavez Rodriguez — in which the campaign tried to smooth over relations with the progressive congresswoman. At a rally in Washington in October, the Palestinian-American Tlaib said, “The previous president wanted to ban us and probably put us in concentration camps. This one wants us just to die.”

But Tlaib has continued to criticize the administration and many of her Democratic colleagues, and is now calling on Michigan Democrats to send a message to the president.

“This is the way you can raise our voices,” Tlaib said. “Don’t make us even more invisible. Right now, we feel completely neglected and just unseen by our government.”
