Chris “Mad Dog” Russo found himself in the dog house at his own for the way he acted toward his wife while watching Super Bowl LVIII.

During Monday’s episode of Mad Dog Unleashed on SiriusXM, Russo claimed his wife badgered him with questions about the rules of the game and even sports betting. Frustrated, Russo resorted to trolling his wife at first.

“And then near the end of the game, she said, ‘What do they do if this is tied?'” Russo said. “And to throw her off, I said, ‘Well, the game’s over.’ ‘What?’ ‘Yeah, the game’s 19-19. They split it. Nobody wins that game.’ ‘Really? Nobody wins the Super Bowl?’ ‘Yeah, if it’s tied, they don’t play it out.’ ‘Wow.’

“And for about 20 minutes, she believed me.”

Then, Russo said he got himself in trouble when his wife asked him about Super Bowl squares, a form of gambling where someone bets on the final digits of the score each quarter. With the Chiefs winning 25-22, for example, the final digits were 5 and 2. Someone who bet on those two numbers would then win money.

“My lovely wife played the boxes,” Russo continued, “and one of her friends text messages her late — I’m talking about when the Chiefs are driving — and says, ‘By the way, do they kick the extra point in overtime?’ So, [Jeanne] asks me and I said, ‘No! Leave me alone.’ And she asks me again because her friend had on the box, had it 6 and 2, not 5 and 2. I said ‘Jeanne, I can’t worry about this right now. The answer is they don’t kick the extra point.

“And I basically kicked her out of the room, and she hasn’t talked to me since.”

According to Russo, he couldn’t be bothered to care about someone else’s bet when he claimed to have bet a “fortune” on the game.

“I have a small fortune on some of these prop bets that have not yet been concluded,” Russo said, “and of course, the Chiefs and everything else; and I’m worried about my lovely wife’s buddy, who’s got a $10 box in New Canaan, wondering if they kick the extra point in overtime because it becomes 6 and 2 from 5 and 2.

“And I have my wife, when this game is going on and everything else, asking me A) [if] they play in overtime, and then B) what happens. And not once, twice, three or four times — constantly. That’s why I want to be left alone. I don’t want anybody bothering me.”
