President Donald Trump compared his phone call about a controversial red card in the FIFA World Cup to his baseless claim that the 2020 election was stolen from him.

On Monday, the president was asked about his alleged role in FIFA overturning the suspension of U.S. soccer star Folarin Balogun. Balogun received an automatic suspension after he was handed a red card in USA’s round of 32 match against Bosnia and Herzegovina, and that ruling was met with widespread outrage domestically. FIFA then announced on Sunday that Balogun’s red card had been suspended, allowing him to play in Monday’s round of 16 match against Belgium. In response, the Belgians rushed to challenge that decision. FIFA shot it down.

Trump confirmed that he spoke with FIFA President Gianni Infantino and asked for a review of the red card. While talking about the situation, Trump argued that if the suspension was upheld and Belgium won, fans would have claimed the match was rigged in Belgium’s favor. He then drew parallels to his own repeated claims that the election was rigged against him six years ago.

“This game would have a big mark on it if we lost, if we won– no matter what happened,” Trump said. “You have to let them use their best players, and the game tonight’s going to be amazing. And we’re gonna have a full team, and Belgium’s gonna have a full team. And you know what? If they beat us, then they can be really proud. The other way, if they beat us, we’ll say it was– I say it was rigged just like the election was rigged in 2020, but I won’t get into that.”

Like the Frame, the Nxtvision is a QLED 4K display with an anti-glare reflective screen and artistic outer bezels that give it that distinctive "frame" look. Unlike the Frame, the Nxtvision supports Dolby Vision on top of HDR10+, providing compatibility with a broader range of HDR content. It offers a 120 Hz refresh rate with a 144Hz Variable Refresh Rate (VRR).

The TV is slim, measuring 1.1 inches deep, and comes with a flush wall mount, a free bezel set (light wood color, as seen in the product picture from Amazon), and a pre-loaded art library. Unlike Samsung's own Tizen OS, the Nxtvision is loaded with Google TV, which I personally like better. You can read more details about this TV in PCMag's review.

One key difference to note between the Frame and Nxtvision is that the Frame uses an external One Connect Box to hook up things like a gaming console to keep the clean frame look. The Nxtvision has all its input and output ports on the TV's back, which means you'll need to conceal your wires in the wall if you want that slick look. Still, the savings over the Frame will give you some cash to work with if you need to call in a handyman to get the Nxtvision set looking good.

Hunter Biden called out President Donald Trump on Sunday for profiting during his presidency — after attacking his overseas business interests.

“I hope everyone had a great 4th of July. I know @realDonaldTrump and family did,” Hunter began his social media post. “250 years ago we declared independence from a king who ran the colonies as a family business. In just 18 months the Trumps have made King George look like an amateur.”

Hunter then listed off ways in which Trump raked in $2.2 billion during the first year of his second term — while Trump’s sons Don Jr. and Eric, as well as son-in-law Jared Kushner, also cleaned up.

A $620 million Pentagon loan, the largest in the program’s history, to a company Don Jr.’s firm bought into three months before.

An Air Force drone contract to a startup the princelings took public through a golf course company they own a piece of.

President Donald Trump lauded FIFA, governing body of soccer’s World Cup, for lifting a suspension of U.S. star Folarin Balogun — who is a birthright citizen

In a Sunday afternoon post to Truth Social, the president praised the shocking ruling which clears Balogun to play Monday night against Belgium in the pivotal Round of 16 World Cup match.

“Thank you to FIFA for doing what was right, and reversing a great injustice!” Trump wrote.

FIFA’s ruling was shocking in that it invoked a seldom-cited bylaw to suspend the red card which was given to Balogun in his previous match. Had the red card not been suspended, Balogun, by rule, would have been ineligible for Monday’s match.

But the irony of Trump heralding FIFA’s decision is that Balogun is only eligible to be part of the U.S. squad in the first place thanks to birthright citizenship — which the president and his administration have heavily fought against. Balogun’s mother, a British citizen, traveled to New York City while pregnant with him in 2001. An airline prohibited her from flying home, deeming her to be too close to delivery, so she gave birth to Balogun and remained in New York for two months before returning to the U.K.

Balogun is a citizen of the U.K., the U.S. and Nigeria but opted to play for the Stars and Stripes following a recruiting battle in which all three nations courted him.

Trump has been a vocal opponent of birthright citizenship. On Tuesday, after the Supreme Court ruled against his administration in Trump v. Barbara — in which the majority of Justices found Trump’s 2025 executive order violated the 14th Amendment — the president raged against the decision and called on Congress to pass a new Amendment.

“The Supreme Court upheld Birthright Citizenship, which is too bad for our Country, but we can easily make it up in Congress through Legislation, with the support of the President, that has now been determined during this process,” Trump wrote in a Truth Social post. “No long and unwieldy Constitutional Amendment is necessary! Congress should start TODAY to work on ending expensive and unfair to our Country, Birthright Citizenship.”

Trump’s praise of FIFA is also likely to draw renewed scrutiny on the cozy relationship between Trump and FIFA’s president Gianni Infantino — who created an award called the FIFA Peace Prize and gave it to the president in 2025.

A Freedom 250 crowd roared as President Donald Trump declared, “In America we speak English” and dropped the defiant assassination-attempt-associated “Fight, fight, fight!” tagline

The president delivered the keynote address at a Mount Rushmore event celebrating the nation’s 250th year, or the American Semi-Quincentennial or the United States’ Quarter-Millentennial or the Bicentennial-and-a-Half — whichever you prefer.

In one chunk of the speech, Trump got a huge reaction from the crowd for his ode to speaking English, then weaved his Butler, PA slogan into his speech by telling them “We will always fight, fight, fight, and win, win, win!”:

Americans honor excellence. We admire boldness. We respect ambition. We are a nation of dreamers and believers, warriors and explorers, doers and fighters. In every human endeavor, Americans see an unfinished competition. What is strong can be made stronger. What is fast can be made faster. What is great can be made greater than ever before. And that’s what’s happening with America.

Show us a mountain, and we’ll just climb it. Show us an ocean, and we’ll just cross it. Show us a problem, and we will just solve it. Show us a task the world calls impossible and Americans will get it done.

Americans are strong and always ready to stand firm for a good cause. We treasure justice, fairness, family, honesty, and human dignity. Unlike societies based on class, clan, or tribe, we see every citizen as an individual equal under the law and equal under the eyes of the Lord.

In America, we speak English because that is the language of our founding. For a thousand years, that has been the language of freedom.

An American always wants peace and order, but we will never shrink from danger or threat. We will always fight, fight, fight, and win, win, win! We’ve got to do that.

Comedian and pundit Bill Maher whined to Trump Vice President JD Vance about Democrats not coming on his show, but conveniently left out the reasons why. I still wish they’d do it.

Maher interviewed Vance on Friday night’s edition of HBO’s Real Time with Bill Maher, and while he got in some tough talk here and there, he began with a little bit of mutual knob-polishing.

He began by congratulating Vance and other Republicans for their bravery in coming on his show, and lamented how he can’t get New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani (D), Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), former Vice President Kamala Harris, and others to come on his show:

BILL MAHER: Do I have the nicest crowd?

VICE PRESIDENT JD VANCE: I’m sure it’s the only applause I’ll get, but I’ll take.

BILL MAHER: No, I mean, I’m just glad you’re talking to me, you know. I mean I say it every time when the Republicans come here, they take their beating like a man. The people I vote for, they’re the ones who won’t talk to me. It’s odd, isn’t it?

VICE PRESIDENT JD VANCE: It is very odd.

BILL MAHER: I mean, and I… I’m.

VICE PRESIDENT JD VANCE: Like this new woman who was elected to New York. Do you think she’ll come on the show?

BILL MAHER: Oh, I know you want… No, I can’t get AOC, I cant get Mandami, I couldn’t get Kamala Harris, you know.

Took me eight years to get Obama. Anyway, let’s not talk about my problem. And I promise this is going to be a lot easier than talking to the Iranians. Or even more, The View.

VICE PRESIDENT JD VANCE: The question is whether it’s harder than The View, that’s right.

And when he’s not ripping Democrats who won’t come on his show, he’s congratulating himself for having dinner with Trump, while also demonstrating how thoroughly Trump played him.

Here’s what Bill won’t tell his audience, or maybe even himself: it’s because he trafficks in despicable bigotry of multiple stripes.

Most ostentatiously, he’s a virulent and ignorant transphobe, but he has also made mocking any and all concern for marginalized groups — Black people, LGBTQ people, really anyone whose concerns are derided by bigots as “woke” — his entire personality. He’s also spent decades deriding Islam to non-Muslim guests— and even got called out on it on his show.

And he does all of this with a near-complete ignorance of the facts.

So it’s not a big mystery why someone like Mamdani — who is also pretty busy — or AOC or Harris don’t want to sign up for the intellectual labor of educating Maher, or the frustration of dealing with his practiced rationalizations. But they also don’t want to contribute to the success of such a toxic personality.

But I wish they would. As much of a cranky, ignorant, liberal-until-it-hurts-me Boomer as Maher can be, he’s still useful and his audience is still reachable. They hate Trump, but they’re also being trained to hate caring about marginalized communities.

Maher is a skilled communicator, as many comics are, which is probably part of the reason liberals aren’t lining up to do fruitless verbal combat with him. He surrounds himself with Democrats who are willing to sit there and laugh along with whatever he says, but rarely books someone who might push back against his pet “woke” bogeymen — or persons with bogey.

But what if he did? What if Maher’s viewers were exposed to someone who was willing to push back? If someone like Trump could work Maher so thoroughly that he made Maher literally think up reasons to praise him, what could Mamdani — who took over Trump’s own office — do with 12 minutes on Real Time? What could AOC do on a panel with Maher and Joe Rogan?

I’d love to see it. I probably won’t get to.

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) praised the rise of Democratic Socialists within the Democratic Party and argued ahead of the July 4th weekend that the “country is on the verge of the political revolution that we have fought for for such a long time.”

Sanders released a lengthy video message on social media earlier in the week and said, “When I look at the huge turnouts for our Fight Oligarchy rallies and No Kings events—I mean, millions of people all over the country coming out to these events.”

Sanders spoke after Democratic Socialists continued their momentum beyond New York City with a massive Tuesday night win in metro-Denver, with Melat Kiros unseating a 15-term incumbent.

“When I look at a billionaire tax qualifying for the ballot in California, which is no easy task. When I look at worker organizing campaigns sprouting up and succeeding across the country. When I look at public support for trade unions at an all-time high—I believe that it may just be possible that this country is on the verge of the political revolution we have fought for, for such a long time,” Sanders crowed, adding:

Now, I do not have a crystal ball to tell you what will happen next, but last night and the last several months have given me hope and optimism, and I hope it does the same for you. It has given me hope that all across this country, people understand that, given the dangerous and unprecedented moment in which we are living, we need to rethink, rebuild, and fundamentally reform the Democratic Party. We need a party that is not just in opposition to Trump and his disastrous policies. That is vitally important, and progressives are going to lead the way in opposition to Trump. But that is not enough.

The lovestruck daredevils who climbed atop the Empire State Building and got engaged while the world watched apparently accessed the dizzying heights by hiding out in the skyscraper overnight, according to the New York Post.

Sources told the outlet that artists Angelina Nikolau and Ivan Kuznetsov — who goes by the moniker BEERKUS on Instagram — bought late-night tickets to the Empire State Building on Tuesday, then probably squirreled themselves away inside the landmark.

They were allegedly caught on video emerging from a hatch on the iconic tower’s 102nd floor around 5 a.m. Wednesday, the sources told The Post.

Nikolau, 33, and Kuznetsov, 32, pleaded not guilty on Thursday to several charges, including reckless endangerment, criminal mischief, criminal trespass, criminal tampering, burglary and disorderly conduct, according to public records.

The East Orange, New Jersey, residents were chased by media as they exited Manhattan Criminal Court following their arraignment, with reporters begging them to smooch, social media video showed.

“Oh wow!” several reporters could be heard saying as the pair passionately locked lips on the subway steps.

The two self-described artists — who are the subjects of the 2024 Netflix film “Skywalkers” — were spotted atop the 1,454 Empire State Building around noon, where they unfurled a black banner with large white letters.

“When the power of love beats the love of power the world knows peace,” the banner read.

Nikolau was clad in a black cat mask, while Kuznetsov was also masked.

The pair scrambled down the television antenna — where Kuznetsov got down on one knee and proposed while the world watched.

Nikolau then posted an array of stunning images on her Instagram, showing off a dazzling engagement ring with all of Manhattan splayed out below her outstretched hand.

New York Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch later posted bodycam footage from the NYPD officers who took the two into custody.

“Well, you can’t be up here,” one officer can be heard saying in the video.

“I’m OK,” Nikolau told the cops as they restrained her and carefully made room in the precarious space for Kuznetsov to climb down.

“A glimpse into the work of our Emergency Service Unit,” Tisch wrote on X. “God bless these officers.”

A lawyer for the couple could not immediately be reached for comment by Mediaite, but told reporters outside of court the pair were “trying to send a message.”

“Come on, what a way to propose — it’s something you could only dream of, so you’ve got to give him some credit for that,” attorney Jason Krinsky said.

Meanwhile, Fox News’ Kennedy said Kuznetsov’s viral engagement put all other romantics to shame.

“And now every guy who’s tried to propose this weekend is going to be like, ‘Oh, what am I going to do? Climb to the top of the Empire State Building like King Kong and swipe at your affection? No, definitely set the bar,” she said on Outnumbered.

“And by the way,” she added, “if you get arrested in New York City, try to speak Russian and claim that you don’t understand what’s happening because you only speak Russian, you’re still going to get arrested and charged.”

Unlock a secret developer mode in your Amazfit watch

In the Zepp app, go to Profile > Settings > About, then tap the Zepp logo seven times. Voilà: You've just unlocked developer mode. Here's what you can do with this under-the-radar hack:

• Install custom watch faces via QR code. This lets you bypass the existing native watch face library and upload a custom face on your computer, scan a generated QR code, and install it directly onto your watch.

• Cross-load watch faces between compatible models. If you own multiple Amazfit models that share a screen resolution with each other (the Bip 6, Active, and Cheetah are one such group), developer mode lets you move watch faces between them. Similar to the hack above, this effectively expands your design options beyond what any single model officially supports.

• View live device logs. See real-time debugging information for app performance, crashes, and Bluetooth connectivity issues, straight from your phone or computer.

• Take true screenshots. Tap the screenshot icon to capture exactly what's on your watch face, saved automatically to your phone's photo gallery.

• Enable Developer Bridge Mode, which connects the Zepp app's runtime to desktop development tools like the Zepp CLI or Watchface Maker, for more advanced customization projects.

Not every user needs all five of these tools—I know I don't. But even if you don't plan on investigating bugs on your own, something like the QR code watch face installer makes the seven-tap trick worth it.

Make your Amazfit work with your schedule

For instance, think about when you typically charge your electronics. If you're using your Amazfit to track your sleep, that means charging has to happen somewhere else in your day. The fix: Keep a charger in your bathroom. A 10-minute top-up while you shower or get ready in the morning is more than enough to keep most Amazfit batteries topped off, and it happens during the exact window you're not wearing the watch anyway.

In the same vein, I recommend re-scheduling your wrist-wake settings. If you've ever been woken up by your own watch flashing on because you rolled over, this one's for you. Instead of leaving "Lift wrist to view info" running 24/7, set it to operate only during your actual waking hours. Whatever hours you set for yourself, the display simply won't activate on wrist movement. This not only stops the middle-of-the-night light attack, but it's also a great way to save battery, since display is one of the biggest power drains on any smartwatch.

Save battery (and stop over-measuring metrics you're not using)

Amazfit watches default to fairly frequent data collection, well beyond what you really need to know. If you're not actively training for something, dial it back like this:

• When you're not actively exercising, reduce heart rate measurement frequency from every one minute down to every five or 10 minutes.

• Turn off "Automatic Stress Monitoring" and "Auto Blood Oxygen" tracking unless you specifically rely on that data.

• Disable continuous location tracking and heart rate logging when you're not working out. Just remember to re-enable both when you start a workout.

These quick settings changes are help stop your watch from unnecessarily draining battery in the background, and you really aren't sacrificing much in terms of data.

And when it comes to heart rate, rather than letting your watch collect data every minute, I highly recommend investing in a chest strap. Wrist-based optical heart rate sensors are convenient, but they're not perfect, especially during high-intensity intervals or activities with lots of wrist movement. If accuracy actually matters to you (say, for zone training), it's worth pairing your watch with an external chest strap like this COOSPO one here. Once paired, enable Heart Rate Push in your sensor settings, and your Amazfit will pull HRM data directly from the strap during workouts instead of relying on its built-in sensor.

Take advantage of surprisingly nifty third-party apps

The native Zepp app ecosystem covers the basics, but I've been scouring multiple Reddit threads to collect the best third-party apps to level up your Amazfit:

• Navigation Wear syncs Google Maps directions straight to your wrist, so you can follow turn-by-turn directions without needing your phone.

• Remotify (and similar apps) store music locally on the watch, letting you control playback without needing your phone nearby.

• RuWeather replaces Amazfit's so-so stock weather app with more detailed, accurate forecasting. You can install it using a QR code from GitHub here.

• Beeper lets you reply to messages from WhatsApp, Slack, Telegram, and more.

Together, these apps close a lot of the gap between Amazfit and pricier smartwatch ecosystems.

Know about these Amazfit features right out of the gate

Amazfit has plenty of useful features, but they're only useful if you know about them now, before you really need them.

Fix Amazfit's accidental workout pauses

One thing I've noticed about my Amazfit over other stop watches is that the crown (aka the top right button) is either bigger or more sensitive, meaning the watch thinks I'm constantly pausing mid-workout whenever I accidentally bump against it.

Here's my fix: Head into Workout Settings and switch the pause mechanism from a simple press to Long Press. The long press did take me some getting used to, but I'm grateful that I don't have to worry about any more accidental pauses caused by natural wrist movement.

Never lose your phone again

Make sure to go into your Bluetooth settings and set a disconnection alert, so that your watch will notify you the moment your phone's Bluetooth connection drops. This alert could save you from leaving your phone on a restaurant table or a gym bench.

Clear water out quickly and easily

After getting caught in the rain, water can linger in your watch's microphone and speaker ports, muffling sound or triggering false touches. Amazfit's fix is a built-in water ejection feature: Swipe down from the main screen to open the Control Center, tap the Droplet icon, and hold your watch with the speaker facing downward. The watch will vibrate at specific frequencies designed to physically push moisture out of the ports. Like so many of the hacks above, this is one of those features it's good to know about now, so you're ready for the moment you really need it.

Swan and his “Regime Change” co-author Maggie Haberman joined CNN’s Dana Bash on Wednesday, and Swan warned at one point that as detailed as Trump’s financial disclosures are, there is still plenty not being accounted for. Haberman and Swan’s book is a behind-the-scenes look at Trump’s return to the White House.

According to the disclosure documents, which totaled more than 900 pages, Trump brought in more than $1 billion from crypto ventures, including from a venture he co-founded with his sons. Swan noted that Trump’s vast wealth from crypto is notable as the president has not always been a fan of crypto and even now he appears “mystified” by it.

He said:

People forget now, but Trump used to call crypto a scam, you know, years before he got involved in the business. And we’re now in this unprecedented situation where crypto is this overwhelming source of wealth for the Trump family, for the Witkoff family, one of his key advisors, Steve Witkoff, at the same time that Donald Trump is overseeing the regulatory apparatus that is regulating this industry. And in private, as we have in our book reporting, Trump has sort of almost been mystified by this world of crypto. You know, with all these zeros attached, you know, how does this all kind of work? And, like you said, he’s used to dealing in tangible physical property, but he’s become richer than he ever was in real estate by orders of magnitude.

Swan then warned that there is plenty of money flowing into the Trump family that isn’t being accounted for.

He continued:

I think one thing that’s really important as reporters and just as citizens to understand is we only know a fraction of what’s going on. I mean, this financial disclosure does not account for a lot of the money that’s going into the Trump family through different mechanisms, through the children and other business ventures, deals overseas. I don’t think we’ve begun to scratch the surface of understanding all the different ways that money is flowing into the Trump family throughout this presidency.

New York Times White House correspondents Maggie Haberman and Jonathan Swan spoke to C-SPAN’s Peter Slen this week for a lengthy Q&A about their bombshell new book covering the Trump administration.

Haberman and Swan’s book, “Regime Change: Inside the Imperial Presidency of Donald Trump,” came out last week and became an instant best seller following weeks of details from the book being released in the media.

Slen pressed the star reporting duo on their access to President Donald Trump, “My guess is you both have his cell number?”

“Yeah, sure,” they both quickly agreed.

“And if you called him right now—we’re not gonna make you do it, trust me,” Slen quipped as Haberman added, “I wouldn’t say yes, and I don’t think Jonathan would either.”

Slen then added, “Good, but he would pick up, probably, or call you back—is that correct?”

Haberman replied, “I don’t actually think so. Maybe. I mean, we really have not—we personally have not really talked to him very much other than day-to-day, which we write about when we’re covering him during this term. I know—”

Slen jumped in, “Because of the book?”

“Because of a couple of things, but we made a concerted effort to get him to sit with us for this book, and it didn’t look like it was going to happen, and it was becoming clear to us that we were going to have to go to him directly to ask, because we had tried through the front door of the White House and that wasn’t getting us very far. And this is a book where he’s the subject,” Haberman replied, adding:

We wanted to give him the opportunity to answer direct questions, but we also did not want it to just sort of be open mic night and, you know, “sit down and ask the news of the day, sir.” And there is, clearly, news has come from people calling him in the last, you know, however many months it’s been. There have been very revealing comments he’s made—one about how, you know, to Michael Scherer of the Atlantic, about how “America First” means whatever I say it means, last year when he was first involved in an incursion into Iran, which was the 12-day war.

There have been other pieces of news that have emerged, but in general, these calls, when people make them, they last about two and a half minutes. He dictates the terms of the discussion, and it’s a way to appear and make a display of transparency, which we describe. I mean, this administration is very good at making shows of transparency.

Karoline Leavitt constantly says he’s the most transparent president in history, which is just simply not true—not rating him against other presidents. This is not a transparent administration. But so, those calls allow him to maintain that veneer while really dictating the terms and not answering much at all.

Slen followed up, “But when he has an Oval Office meeting and says, ‘Do you have any questions?’ you could ask him anything you wanted, correct?”

“If I’m in the pool,” Swan replied, adding, “The White House now decides who’s in the pool. So yeah, if I’m selected in the pool, sure. But the composition of the pool has changed from what it used to be.”

“There are more friendly reporters there. It is true—let me be clear about something: he answers more questions than Joe Biden did,” Swan said as Haberman agreed, “There’s no question.”

“He’s more available; I mean, there are reporters in there asking him questions, you know, when they’re in the pool. There’s no question about that. But Maggie and I just find the type of reporting that we do in this book—there’s many different types of reporting—but when we want to try and get inside a room, the Oval, the Situation Room, for the most sensitive conversations, the way to get that is not to call Donald Trump on the cell phone for three minutes. It’s just—it’s not that useful,” Swan concluded.
