Chris ‘Mad Dog’ Russo — in an all-timer of a sports radio rant — absolutely annihilated the L.A. Dodgers and Shohei Ohtani for pressuring a fan to give up a valuable home run ball she caught.

In a scorching commentary on SiriusXM’s Mad Dog Radio Friday, the sports radio legend tore into the Dodgers and their newly-minted $700 million dollar man over what has become a controversy in Los Angeles. On Thursday, The Athletic published an interview with a fan named Ambar Roman — who caught the milestone baseball Ohtani hit into the Dodgers Stadium stands last week, his first-ever with the team. Roman said she was pressured by team security staff into giving up the baseball. An auction house representative told The Athletic was potentially worth $100,000. The team initially gave Roman just two signed hats and a signed bat and ball. After public pressure, the team also gave Roman club seats to a future game and an on-field experience.

Russo, however, believes the Dodgers and Ohtani came up way short.

“What a freaking disgrace!” Russo said. He added, “The Dodgers marketing department! Oh my God, it makes you sick! They throw 12 goons out there to harass the lady, they escort out to the parking lot where her car is, and give her some memorabilia, and tell her ‘Be smart here. And we’re not gonna authenticate the ball, so you’ve got no choice here. It’s worthless.’ Shut the hell up! Shut the hell up! Treat somebody that way, busts her ass to go to Dodgers games, 27 years of age, works for a construction company. And this is the way you treat your fans?! Disgraceful!”

Russo went on to invoke the recent controversy involving Ohtani — in which he claims his interpreter stole $4.5 million from his bank account to pay off gambling debts. Mad Dog joined the many skeptics who question Ohtani’s version of events.

“The ball’s worth a hundred grand,” Russo said. “How about the Dodgers, and how about Ohtani — who basically wires money all over America for his translator, $4.5 million. And if you think he didn’t, you need your head examined … You’re nuts! Ohtani helped him out; but Ohtani wired that money. Ohtani’s worth billions. How about Ohtani write the lady a $100,000 check for the ball after this nonsense?”

Mad Dog also accused Ohtani of lying about meeting the fan.

“You went nowhere near the fan for crying out loud!” Russo said. “That is an absolute unmitigated disgrace!”
