Several House Democrats on Friday introduced a bill to rename the federal prison in Miami after former President Donald Trump. The bill comes after several Republicans earlier in the week introduced legislation to rename Washington’s Dulles Aiport after the former president.

Reps. Gerry Connolly (D-VA), Jared Moskowitz (D-FL), and John Garamendi (D-CA) introduced bill the bill to allow for the Donald J. Trump Federal Correctional Institution in Miami.

“When our Republican colleagues introduced their bill to rename Dulles after Donald Trump, I said the more fitting option would be to rename a federal prison,” Connolly said in a statement, adding:

I see no reason to wait … I hope our Republican friends will join us in bestowing upon Donald J. Trump the only honor he truly deserves.

Moskowitz, who has become known for his trolling and attention-grabbing antics, added, “Everyone knows President Trump loves to write his name in gold letters on all his buildings, but he’s never had his name on a federal building before and as a public servant I just want to help the former president. Help us make that dream a reality.”

Trump is currently facing 91 state and federal criminal charges related to his retention of classified documents and efforts to overturn the 2020 presidential election and stay in power.
