Elon Musk Deletes Tweets Promoting Blatantly Anti-Semitic, Fake News Account for Information on Gaza Escalation

Elon Musk deleted several tweets of his without apology after getting called out for promoting a disreputable account he held up as reliable source regarding the situation in Israel.
Israel declared war over the weekend after Hamas militants killed hundreds of Israelis and took scores more hostage in a coordinated, unprecedented attack. The attack and the Israeli retaliation in Gaza have dominated the news cycle, and in the now-deleted posts on X — the social media platform previously known as Twitter — Musk vouched for the accounts @WarMonitors and @sentdefender as reliable sources of real-time information.
“It is also worth following direct sources on the ground. Please add interesting options in replies below,” Musk added. The @WarMonitors account thanked the X owner for his “support,” which Musk warmly received, sending an identical tweet to @sentdefender.
Musk’s tweets were called out by a number of news observers who noted @WarMonitor’s history of pushing misinformation, calling Hamas “resistance fighters,” and using “Jew” as a slur.
Hours later, Musk deleted his mentions of @WarMonitor and posted this re-do of his earlier post.
