CNN Reporter in Israel Chokes Up During Report On the ‘Almost Impossible’ Hostage Rescue Effort
A CNN correspondent in Israel choked up during a report about the hostages taken by Hamas during Saturday’s attack.
In a live shot from Sderot, Israel during CNN’s special coverage anchored by Abby Phillip, correspondent Nic Robertson choked up and paused while reporting on the effort to rescue hostages taken by Hamas. After noting that the number of hostages is thought to be in the dozens, Robertson got emotional while sharing the comments of a major in the Israeli Defense Forces who serves as an IDF spokesperson.
“I asked him, ‘How are you going these hostages back?'”
Robertson took a moment to gather himself before resuming his report.
“He told me that they were going to do everything in their power to get them back,” Robertson said. “No one would be left behind, he said. But I think I picked up from him the extreme difficulty that is presented her. Because Hamas won’t give them up. And where they’re scattered, where they’re being held, underground tunnels, bunkers scattered across Gaza, it is an almost impossible task.”
