Fox News hosts were appalled at the suggestion that stabbing victim Ryan Carson would have wanted mercy for his killer.

New York City police arrested 18-year old Brian Dowling Thursday and charged him with the murder of Carson, a progressive activist, who was walking in the city Monday night with his girlfriend.

“Friends of Ryan Carson now say they believe he would feel sorry for the man who stabbed him to death,” said Harris Faulkner. “The horrific murder was caught on surveillance video, making that claim even more shocking.”

Faulkner played the video of Carson talking with the suspect and trying to push him away, before the video cut to Carson lying motionless on the ground.

“Despite that chilling scene, Carson’s friends say this quote: ‘People would want you to use his death as a means to talk about structural wrongs in the city,'” Faulkner read. “And another says, ‘I’m absolutely positive he would have at least seen that this was a person suffering from a lack of resources in our community who probably needs better mental health support, possibly housing, possibly drug support, drug treatment.’ Do we really know all that?” Faulkner asked.

“You know what, Harris? As you’re reading that, I get more and more upset about it…We want to jump to mental health and drug abuse issues. End of the day, he was a murderer,” said Fox News contributor Dr. Nicole Saphire.  She continued:

And so you have to take that for what it is. An innocent person lost his life in this shameless act of violence and, here we are, friends are saying, “You know what? He would want this person to get some help.” It is possible, yes, that maybe this person did suffer and need some help. But at the end of the day, he was a murderer and we need to be hard on crime! And we cannot walk over the fact that crime is rampant.

“Yeah, but we don’t know that — they’re guessing what their friend would have felt,” Faulkner said. “I guarantee you what he was feeling was the sharpness of those blades.”
