Lindsay Lohan has come under criticism for something rather bizarre.

Lohan broadcast on Instagram Live (captured above) what she believed to be a Syrian refugee family on the street. She spent a few minutes trying to talk to them, asking them why they’re on the street and offering to help get them somewhere they can sleep for the night.

At one point the family gets up and starts walking away. Lohan follows them and says to her followers watching, “Look what’s happening. They’re trafficking children.”

Lohan continues, “I won’t leave until I take you. Now I know who you are. Don’t fuck with me… You’re ruining Arabic culture by doing this.”

As they keep moving, Lohan walks up close and tries to get one of the kids to take her hand. There’s a minor scuffle and Lohan appears to get hit before the family walks away.

Lohan’s clearly shaken after that, but she got a lot of flak on social media for her actions:

She films them without permission, continues harassing them after they refuse her demands multiple times, & generally exploits them to make herself feel better & look good to those watching. Of course it backfired when the mom punched her—that’s the only thing I’m laughing at.
