Panic Ensues at MSNBC’s Global Citizen Concert After Attendees Mistake Crash for Gunshots
A fallen barrier at the Global Citizen Festival in New York City led to a panic and brief halt to the show during the annual, star-studded concert on Saturday.
Savannah Sellers reported from the scene for MSNBC:
People were running, even hopping over this fence right here to try to get back that way, but everybody is starting to remain calm again. We have people that were sort of being pushed by the police a little bit beyond where we can see here. But like you said, it was that barrier that went down, they’re trying to re-establish that lane. But everybody here is safe and calm now. They are looking forward to Janet Jackson.
Chris Martin took to the stage to let people know that it was a fence that collapsed and everyone was safe.
