Michael Cohen, former attorney to President Donald Trump, warned Saturday that the escalating war of words between Trump and Elon Musk is just getting started and will definitely escalate.

Appearing on MSNBC’s Velshi on Saturday, Cohen declared the feud is and will be “a war like nobody has seen,” citing the power and influence of Musk and Trump’s obsession with remaining relevant.

Cohen pointed to the disparity in social media reach between the two men, noting that a Musk post attacking Trump this week drew 172 million views on X, while a comparable post from Trump on Truth Social reached just 179,000 – an enormous difference.

“Elon Musk has massive power,” Cohen told host Ali Velshi. “And here’s the problem with that. Trump craves relevance. Elon Musk craves dominance. It’s a very big difference. You’re talking about an immovable force trying to smash into something that’s indestructible. This is going to be a war like nobody has seen in, maybe in all of history.”

The remarks came after days of attacks between the president and Musk, culminating in Trump reportedly calling Musk a “big-time drug addict” in private conversations, according to The Washington Post.

The New York Times reported Friday that Trump’s relationship with Musk began to “crumble” during an Oval Office sendoff last week. Tensions boiled over in recent days as Musk accused Trump of being in the Jeffrey Epstein files — a claim that set off a firestorm of MAGA backlash and led Trump to publicly state Musk has “totally lost it.”

Cohen said Republican leaders are panicking behind the scenes over the feud.

“You know you’ve got issues when Kanye West is trying to be the adult in the room,” he said. “Or Marjorie Taylor Greene.”

“For them, it is all about the money,” Cohen concluded. “It’s about making sure power remains in their hands.”

Cohen suggested the rift could turn Trump into a “lame duck” if Musk’s influence helps Democrats win back Congress.
