Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) has taken a break from investigating Hunter Biden to get to the bottom of just who is behind Google’s “woke” Gemini AI program that created the “Black George Washington” that went viral on social media.

Gemini caused a stir when it used prompts to start creating “historically inaccurate” images in the name of diversity, including female popes, Black vikings, and Native American founding fathers. Now, Google says it’s pausing the rollout of Gemini’s “image generation tool” to work on its algorithms.

That’s not good enough for Jordan, however, who is accusing the Biden administration of “influencing” the “wokeness” displayed by Gemini.

The New York Post reported:

Jordan said he was alarmed by internal reports from within the Gemini team that it had followed Biden White House guidance stipulating that AI must advance “equity” — a left wing idea which argues that black people and other historically marginalized groups should be promoted and spotlighted ahead of white people and other groups not historically marginalized — regardless of merit.

On Saturday, Jordan, who is chair of the House Judiciary Committee, sent a letter to Google’s parent company Alphabet to demand all communications with the federal government be turned over by March 17.

Jordan took to X (formerly Twitter) to crow about his new investigation, writing, “House Republicans demand Google reveal what role US government had in developing woke Gemini AI.”

The House Judiciary Committee also sent out “breaking” news that “@Jim_Jordan Demands Information on the Biden Administration’s Role in Google’s ‘Woke’ Gemini AI. The Committee is investigating how and to what extent the Executive Branch has colluded with Big Tech and other intermediaries to censor Americans’ speech.”

Google’s CEO admitted that the program was “not working the way we intended,” and said it will relaunch the image generation feature in a “few weeks.”
