‘It Absolutely Did Not Happen!’ Eric Adams Vehemently Denies Sexual Assault Allegation
New York City Mayor Eric Adams (D) vehemently denied the sexual assault allegation brought against him in a civil lawsuit brought late Wednesday night.
Speaking to reporters Thursday in New York, the mayor said he does not remember even meeting the accuser. In the filing, the unnamed accuser claimed the assault took place in 1993 — when Adams was a captain in the New York Police Department and she also worked for the City of New York in an unspecified capacity.
“It absolutely did not happen!” Adams said. “I don’t recall ever meeting this person. I would never harm anyone in that magnitude. It did not happen. And it’s going to go its course, it’s going to take its process. But it did not happen. And that is not who I am. And that is not who I’ve ever been in my professional life. It’s just something never took never took place.”
The lawsuit was filed just days before the deadline set forth in the Adult Survivors Act — a New York law which temporarily removed the statute of limitations for sexual assault accusers to file lawsuits. In recent days, lawsuits have been filed against Sean “Diddy” Combs, Bill Cosby, Cuba Gooding Jr., and Axl Rose alleging sexual misconduct. Per the filing, first reported by The Messenger, the mayor’s accuser is seeking at least $5 million.
