President Joe Biden commemorated the celebration of Veterans Day by laying a wreath down at the tomb of the unknown soldier in Arlington National Cemetery.

The president kicked off the 70th annual National Veterans Day Observance at Arlington National Cemetery starting at 11 am to honor the men and women who have served and continue serving in all branches of the U.S. military.

The ceremony began with Biden laying a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier before delivering remarks to a crowd who had gathered at the ceremony.

After laying down the wreath on the tomb, Biden, a Roman Catholic, stepped back from the grave before making the sign of the cross on himself. CNN noted in their report that the president did not stray into other topics or political issues during his speech, remaining focused on honoring veterans.
