Former President Donald Trump told comedian Theo Von that immigrants are threatened by their home countries if they try leaving the United States.

Trump appeared on Tuesday’s episode of Von’s podcast This Past Weekend. When the conversation got to immigration, Trump claimed other countries enjoy decreased crime rates because they’re “sending all their criminals” to the U.S. Von joked that it was “a party.”

“[Kamala Harris] should be ashamed,” Trump said, “and, you know, she was the ‘border czar,’ too. [President Joe Biden] put her in charge. She was the worst ‘border czar’ in the history of the world. She’s terrible.”

When asked what he’ll do if he wins the presidency, Trump vowed to “seal” the U.S.-Mexico and complete the wall that lines it.

He then asserted that “we have murderers in our country,” prompting Von to share his belief that no criminal should be allowed in the U.S.

“What they’ve done is they’ve allowed murderers, people in prisons, people in jails, people in mental institutions, insane asylums, and terrorists” Trump said, “to pour into our country by the hundreds of thousands; and they are in our country right now, and the country that brought them out said, ‘If you ever come back, we’re giving you the death penalty or we’re gonna kill you.'”
