Rachel Maddow Describes Trump’s ‘Colorful’ Entourage in Court: ‘The Hells Angels Leader’ Is ‘Wearing a Very Flamboyant Suit’

By News Here - 12:07

In her own inimitable way, MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow described in detail Donald Trump’s “colorful” entourage that showed up to support him in court, including the former leader of the Hells Angels wearing a “very flamboyant suit.”

The New York Times reported that Chuck Zito, the man who founded the New York chapter of the outlaw motorcycle gang, was in the gallery. “Mr. Zito has experience with the criminal justice system, having served a prison term from 1985 to 1991 on drug conspiracy charges,” the Times reported, adding that Trump “has long shown an affection for macho bikers.”

“Mr. Zito was joined in the courtroom on Monday by several Trump allies who have been charged with crimes,” wrote reporters Matthew Haag and Alan Feuer.

Maddow said she wasn’t sure if jurors “were focusing on Trump’s entourage,” adding, “I will say, just as an observer in the courtroom, the entourage today is colorful.” Maddow continued:

The Hells Angels leader is a very large man wearing a very flamboyant suit with a big, dyed-black pompadour, and huge, gaudy jewelry on very large hands. And he’s sitting next to Boris Epshteyn, who kind of looks like his body double.

And there’s Alan Dershowitz, and there’s other recognizable people. And there’s members of Congress and well-known lawyers. And everybody seems sort of, there is a sort of performative aspect to the way they’re behaving in court. It is very noticeable for those of us who are there observing as journalists. I don’t know if they’re catching the jury’s attention so much. It’s a little, I mean, it’s not a Star Wars bar scene, but it’s a little bit of a cast of characters.

“[Trump’s] entourage was so large that Mr. Epshteyn helped coordinate seating,” noted the Times. Also part of Monday’s gallery was former New York Police Department Commissioner Bernard Kerik, who was pardoned by Trump after serving a prison sentence on tax-related charges.
