Arizona Tracks Down and Serves Giuliani Before Deadline After He Taunts Prosecutors About Evading Them
Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani got served with a notice of his indictment while at his birthday party on Friday in the Arizona case on charges related to attempts to overturn the 2020 election results in the state.
Arizona’s Democratic Attorney General Kris Mayes made the announcement on X, formerly Twitter, less than two hours after Giuliani taunted the AG for being unable to serve the indictment, and included a link to Giuliani’s tweet. She then replied with a screenshot of the subsequently deleted post from Giuliani.
In that message on X, Giuliani wrote to his followers, “If Arizona authorities can’t find me by tomorrow morning; 1. They must dismiss the indictment; 2. They must concede they can’t count votes.”
The message included photo of the former mayor along with six partygoers at his birthday bash.
Mayes responded to the post less than two hours later writing, “The final defendant was served moments ago. @RudyGiuliani, nobody is above the law.”

Giuliani was celebrating an early birthday party in Palm Beach hosted by Caroline Wren, an adviser to Kari Lake. The former mayor was reportedly served the indictment moments after guests finished singing “Happy Birthday To You.” Roger Stone and Steve Bannon were also in attendance at the party.
“The mayor was unphased by the decision to try and embarrass him during his 80th birthday party. He enjoyed an incredible evening with hundreds of people who love him—from all walks of life—and we look forward to full vindication soon,” said Ted Goodman, a spokesperson for Giuliani, in a statement to NBC News.
The “fake electors” case is not the only legal issue that Giuliani faces following the 2020 election. Last year, a George civil court ruled that Giuliani must pay two election workers $148 million for defamation.
