New Hampshire Governor Chris Sununu (R) minced no words in his evaluation of his counterpart in California on Thursday.

At an event held by the Ronald Reagan Institute on Thursday, Sununu concluded that Governor Gavin Newsom (D) is “just a prick” and asserted that none of his peers can stand him.

After being asked how governors “can play a bigger role in leading us,” Sununu stressed the importance of leading “by example.”

“And I think look almost all the governors get along. I mean, in my eight years, I can honestly tell you there’s really only been two —  maybe a third — but two real governors that really nobody liked, nobody cared for at all,” continued Sununu before being asked to name and shame the parties in question.

“You really want me to? Andrew Cuomo, a complete jackass, no one liked him. And I got to be honest, no one cares for Gavin. Gavin’s just a prick, excuse me, he just is,” he said. “It’s really disappointing. I got along with them, all of us got along, but even the Democrats, they won’t tell you out loud. But behind closed doors, they’re like, ‘Oh, God, look who’s coming,’ you know? They all roll their eyes.”

Sununu, a moderate Republican, has won four terms as governor of New Hampshire, an impressive political feat in a state that has sent its electoral votes to the Democratic presidential nominee in every election since 2004.

Newsom is currently serving his second term as governor of California and also handily won a recall election in 2021. It was widely speculated that he might challenge President Joe Biden in the Democratic primary this year, but he ultimately opted against mounting such a challenge.
