President Donald Trump criticized Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Monday for saying the end of the war with Russia was “very far away.”

The relationship between the two presidents took a big hit last week after a tense clash in the Oval Office. Since then, Trump and many other Republicans have chastised Zelensky for his “disrespectful” behavior and accused the Ukrainian president of not wanting peace in the region.

Zelensky, on the other hand, returned to Europe in an effort to strengthen his alliances with other nations in the continent.

In a report from The Associated Press published Monday, Zelensky predicted that the end of the war was “still very, very far away.” In response to that quote, Trump took to Truth Social to call it “the worst statement that could have been made.”

“This is the worst statement that could have been made by Zelenskyy, and America will not put up with it for much longer!” Trump wrote. “It is what I was saying, this guy doesn’t want there to be Peace as long as he has America’s backing and, Europe, in the meeting they had with Zelenskyy, stated flatly that they cannot do the job without the U.S. – Probably not a great statement to have been made in terms of a show of strength against Russia. What are they thinking?”
