MSNBC Hosts Tell Musk to Abandon DOGE While Gleefully Reacting to SpaceX Explosion: ‘Go Back to Your Day Job’
MSNBC hosts Alicia Menendez, Michael Steele, and Symone Sanders-Townsend reacted with glee Saturday morning while reacting to the explosion of a SpaceX rocket on Thursday.
The trio of hosts advised SpaceX CEO Elon Musk to step away from his work in the Trump administration to figure out what the issue could be – and all wore smiles at one point or another.
Thursday night, a Starship test flight again ended in disaster when the craft disintegrated off the Florida coast eight minutes after taking off. The FAA temporarily grounded flights across Florida.
On MSNBC’s The Weekend Saturday, the hosts who will soon take over the 7 p.m.ET hour on the network were not exactly broken up about it. The trio laughed at Musk’s expense and advised him to abandon President Donald Trump’s Department of Government Efficiency.
Before breaking out into song, Sanders-Townsend asked, “Why did they let him put this rocket up in the air after they were still investigating the last explosion?” Steele replied:
My suggestion for Elon. His response to all of this was rockets are hard. And Mr. Musk, if they’re so hard, why don’t you go back to your day job and work that out and leave those of us who do government to do government because you can’t do both. And clearly, you’re failing right now at both. Your rockets are blowing up and the government is blowing up. So I suggest you concentrate on the one thing you think you know more about, and do that and leave the rest to those of us who know a little bit of how to provide services to people who need them and make the government function.
Menendez then read a tweet from Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) about the explosion – which the congresswoman said might not have occurred had Musk embraced DEI initiatives.
