A chain of connected banners around a mile in length encircled the White House Saturday, carried by protesters taking part in a large demonstration against Israel during which President Joe Biden was repeatedly accused of supporting “genocide” as chants rejecting a two-state solution and calling for “intifada” echoed in the streets of D.C.

As various speakers took the stage near the White House, other protesters set off smoke, led chants, and carried signs and banners, including the chain of red that was used to surround the White House on Saturday.

Protesters chanted and carried signs opposing the existence of Israel as a nation, with slogans like “We don’t want no two state, we’re taking back ’48” and “the red line should have been 1948” among others. Many of the chants and signs were directed specifically at President Biden, accusing him of “funding genocide” and promising he will learn a lesson.

Videos and photos from the protest were shared on social media on Saturday, showing smoke flares being set off, and reports online indicated possible use of pepper spray by police.
