Tucker Carlson Tells Don Jr That Trump Verdicts Prove ‘They’d Execute Us’ And MSNBC Would Be ‘Laughing’

Tucker Carlson sat down with his self-described “buddy” Donald Trump Jr. for a postmortem on former President Donald Trump’s conviction on 34 counts of business fraud.

After 9.5 hours of deliberation, a Manhattan jury announced Thursday that it had reached a unanimous verdict in the case. The jury found that Trump was guilty on all 34 counts related to covering up a hush money payment to a porn star in order to interfere in the 2016 presidential election.

Many conservatives have echoed Trump’s assertion that President Joe Biden and the Democrats orchestrated his indictment and conviction as a way to hamper the former president’s chances at a second term. They argue that Democrats are the real perpetrators of election interference by keeping Trump tied up in the legal system, and that the paper trail leading to Trump’s conviction was based solely on a filing error.

As he has done in the past, Carlson took the opportunity to stoke people’s fears built around Trumpian platitudes such as, “If they can do this to me, they can do this anyone,” and “They’re not after me, they’re after you, and I just happen to be standing in the way.”

Carlson said:

I think a lot of people yesterday when that verdict came down — I’m among them — my first reaction was, wow, they’ll actually hurt us. They would execute us — me — I’ll just say that speaking for myself. And there would be an MSNBC panel of former federal prosecutors telling their audience that I deserved it and they’d be laughing. Then Project Lincoln would send out a congratulatory tweet. And I was like, wow, there’s sort of a lack of humanity, there’s a coldness, there’s an evil under all this that I think I underestimate.

 

Carlson famously lost his job with Fox News just over a year ago due to fostering a hostile work environment and pushing conspiracy theories about the 2020 election that led Fox to settle a massive defamation suit with Dominion Voting Systems for $787.5 million.
