The most anticipated title to hit Prime Video in June is season four of The Boys (June 13), the satirical superhero show adapted from the same-named comic book series and starring Billy Butcher as Karl Urban, leader of the titular group of super powered individuals. In the new season, Urban has only months left to live and must work to bring his team back together to save the world. Three episodes premiere on June 13, with additional episodes dropping weekly through mid-July.

Prime Video is also streaming two original sports documentaries in June. First up is Power of the Dream (June 18), a feature-length film that chronicles how WNBA team the Atlanta Dream's support of Black Lives Matter helped flip a Georgia Senate seat and led to the election of Rev. Raphael Warnock. Federer: Twelve Final Days (June 20) offers a behind-the-scenes look—using home video footage—of the last days of tennis star Roger Federer's career.

Finally, there's My Lady Jane (June 27), an eight-episode original series that tells an alternate history of Lady Jane Grey—played by Emily Bader—in which the British noblewoman avoids execution and instead lives a life of romance and adventure.

Space is a big motivator when it comes to buying a house; sometimes it seems as if people start planning to buy a bigger house the moment they move into their current one. And yet, after years of growth, new houses have actually been getting smaller over the last few years, dropping from a median of 2,519 square feet in 2015 to just 2,191 last year.

The rule of thumb on square footage is that you need about 600 to 700 square feet per person living in a house, so if you’re a family of four you ideally want about 2,400-2,800 square feet. And adding square footage can pay off—every 1,000 square feet of additional space in your home can potentially boost your home’s value by 30%. There are several options for adding square footage to your home, but most depend on having space to expand into. If you lack outdoor space, can’t build up due to zoning laws or other barriers, and you have a shallow crawl space that’s not usable for any activity except crawling, you might ask yourself if you can solve your square footage problem by going down.

Can you? Possibly. Should you? That’s a more complicated question.

Digging out

Digging out a crawl space or shallow basement is just what it sounds like: You dig, removing the dirt and other debris currently forming the floor, lowering the floor until you have usable clearance above your head. It’s more complicated than that, of course: You also have to extend and reinforce the foundation and footings via underpinning or buttressing, and you have to figure out how to remove all that dirt.

There are many considerations involved when deciding whether it’s possible to dig out your crawl space:

• Soil. The type and condition of the soil your house is built on is a big factor. Loose, sandy soil is more likely to collapse during the process.

• Age. Homes built before the 1950s rarely have foundations made from reinforced concrete, and tend to have thinner footings, making a dig out much more difficult.

• Foundation. The type of foundation matters, too; older foundations made from bricks are less stable, especially if the mortar is sandy. Monolithic concrete foundations are better for dig outs.

If you consult with a structural engineer and decide it’s possible to dig out your crawl space and get that valuable square footage added to your house, you still have to decide if it’s worth it. And it very well may not be.

Considerations

There are a lot of potentially disastrous downsides to digging out your crawl space to create a basement you can then finish:

• Cost: The total cost to dig out a crawl space and create a finished basement can be as much as $200,000. Even if you get that 30% bump in your home’s sale price, it’s going to be tough to get a solid ROI on that.

• Risk: Homes can—and do—collapse when crawl spaces are dug out. Even when proceeding with extreme caution, digging out can weaken the foundation and cause it to shift, which can set off a chain reaction of failure that leaves you not only with no new basement, but also no house.

• Cost, again: Because of that extra risk, you’d be well advised to buy extra insurance if you undertake the project—especially because catastrophic failure of your home’s stability can impact your neighbors on every side. You’d better be prepared for that kind of liability.

• Time: This isn’t a quick job. It can take weeks to dig out a crawl space, and you may not be able to stay in the home during the process.

Bottom line

You’ve got a crawl space you try your best to never enter. You’re dreaming of a finished basement or accessory dwelling unit. Should you dig out your crawl space? Only if you answer "yes" to the following questions:

1. Do you have no other option to add square footage to your home?

2. Was your home built after 1950 or so?

3. Has a licensed structural engineer signed off?

4. Are you prepared for the cost and potential liability?

If your answer is "no" to any of these questions, put down that shovel and back away from your crawlspace.

Caitlin Clark continues to be a ratings machine as she and the Indiana Fever have helped five different networks achieve WNBA viewership records this season.

In her final season at Iowa, Clark and the Hawkeyes were part of three of the most-watched women’s college basketball games of all time. After setting the record in the Elite Eight against the Angel Reese-led LSU Lady Tigers, the Hawkeyes went on to break that record a few days later with Paige Bueckers and the UConn Huskies.

Clark’s rookie season in the WNBA is off to a similar start. Her regular season debut against the Connecticut Sun, which aired on ESPN2, averaged 2.1 million viewers. It was the most-watched WNBA game in the channel’s history.

According to a report from Front Office Sports, several other channels set new records. That includes ABC (1.71 million), ESPN (1.56 million), Ion (724,000), CBS (704,000), and NBA TV (333,000).

Of those six channels, five featured Clark and the Fever. The lone channel that didn’t was CBS, which set its record with a matchup between the New York Liberty and the Minnesota Lynx.

The Indiana Fever have played in four of the five most-watched games this season. Though the team has struggled — it was 1-7 heading into Thursday’s game against the Seattle Storm — Clark has continued to improve and recently set a career high with 30 points. If her impressive shooting displays in college become a regular occurrence at the professional level, those viewership numbers will likely continue to climb.

The average price for a new car is close to $50,000 these days, which is a lot of money, and not always a good financial decision (not to mention the fact that the purchase price is only part of the cost). Even worse than the price, in many ways, is the process—anyone who has ever purchased a new car knows how long and excruciating it can be, involving several hours (or days) of your life as you engage in Jedi Mind Trick battles with a salesperson and then sign dozens of documents when you’re mentally and emotionally exhausted.

One reason the process sucks so much: Car dealerships are notorious for using tricky, sneaky tactics to get you to pay more than you need to. But you can turn the tables on them a little, because once you’ve struck a deal, in principle you have more leverage—the salesperson can smell that sale, and if you walk away, their time is as wasted as yours. This is the moment to ask for all the little things that won’t cost the dealer much, but can add up to a nice package of savings and perks for you, making this purchase a little less painful.

A full tank of gas

You might assume that the least you can expect from a car dealership is that your new car will arrive with a full tank of gas. And that is usually the case, but sometimes things go wrong—a salesperson forgets to gas up after a few test drives, or it’s simply overlooked. Considering that a full tank of gas can run as much as $100 depending on the vehicle you’re purchasing, it’s worth insisting that the contract stipulate the car will be delivered with a full tank, or that you’ll get a fuel voucher to fill it up. And while you’re at it, specify premium fuel, too.

Warranties and service plans

Dealers often toss extended warranties (that cover some repairs after the manufacturer’s warranty expires) and regular maintenance like tune-ups and oil changes into your contract and assume you’ll pay for them even though it increases your costs. But they’re not always worth it; an extended warranty only makes sense if you intend to own that car for well past the included warranty’s expiration, and even then you need to look closely at what’s covered. And most dealers will offer some kind of service and maintenance plan included with the purchase.

If you’re going to skip the extended warranty, you should ask to have it added to the contract as a freebie—all they can do is say no. Similarly, if there’s a charge for a service plan, try to have that added as well—even limited service options can save you some money down the road.

Coatings

When buying a new car, salespeople will often push various coatings—paint protection, anti-rust, anti-stain fabric applications—that they insist are necessary to keep your car from literally dissolving under the elements within days, if not hours. For the most part these coatings aren’t worth the money—cars are pretty durable right out of the factory, and while these coatings do offer some protection from normal wear and tear, the markups on them are usually breathtaking.

So, don’t buy these add-ons—but do ask that they be included in the contract as an included part of the purchase. Dealerships don’t pay much for these services (which is why they love selling them to you—that profit margin is sweet), so they can be persuaded to just throw them in if you ask nicely—and firmly—enough.

Extra keys or fobs

While most new cars these days use keyless (or even fully digital) entry and ignition, some basic models still come with mechanical keys—and if you need a fob to access the car it’s really just a key with extra steps. In either case, having a spare you can keep someplace safe is a great idea. Yet many dealers act like giving you a second key or fob requires immense effort and expense on their part. Before you sign that contract, ask them to write in a second key or fob so you don’t have to worry about losing yours.

VIN etching

VIN etching is a chemical process that burns your car’s vehicle identification number (VIN) onto the glass. It’s useful because it makes it much more difficult to sell a stolen car, which is why some insurers offer discounts on policies if your car has it. You can do VIN etching yourself cheaply, so it might not be worth the several hundred bucks your dealer will charge for the service—unless you convince them to write it into your contract for free.

Floor mats

If your new car doesn’t come with floor mats as a standard feature—and some don’t—you should definitely not buy them from the dealer. You can get them for a lot less money just about anywhere else, or spring for some laser-measured custom mats that will fit like gloves. But your dealer has floor mats they could give you—so write it into the contract and see if they’ll go for it, because free floor mats are always going to be better than floor mats you have to pay for.

Rudy Giuliani’s bankruptcy creditors have had it with his “egregious spending habits” and “false and misleading” filings — even taking aim at his new “Rudy Coffee” venture — and are aggressively moving for the immediate appointment of a trustee who would seize control of his assets and businesses.

According to Andrew Kirtzman, who covered Giuliani closely for decades, the former New York City mayor once raked in $100 million in five years through his Giuliani Partners consulting firm that he founded a few months after 9/11, but had “squandered” a lot of that wealth in a series of messy divorces and profligate spending habits.

“He lived very well and now he’s penniless and facing prison,” Kirtzman told CNN’s Kaitlan Collins last September, describing how Giuliani and his ex-wife used to burn through $250,000 on “fun” but things had taken a stunning turn for the worse since he got involved with former President Donald Trump.

Among the former Trump attorney’s woes are an IRS lien on his Palm Beach penthouse for a more than half a million dollar tax debt, a $148 million defamation judgment he owes to two Georgia election workers he falsely accused of committing election fraud (plus a second lawsuit the plaintiffs filed after Giuliani refused to stop attacking them), a lawsuit from a former employee accusing him of harassment and wage theft, his suspension from the practice of law and pending disbarment proceedings in New York and D.C., a lawsuit filed by his former friend Robert Costello for nearly $1.4 million in unpaid legal fees, the cancellation of his WABC radio show, and criminal indictments in both Georgia and Arizona for his alleged efforts to attempt to overturn the 2020 election results.

Getting walloped with tax liens, judgments, criminal indictments, and filing for bankruptcy do not seem to have slowed Giuliani down, according to a new filing by his creditors that urges the court to take swift action to preserve what’s left of his assets from his “dishonesty,” “incompetence,” and “gross mismanagement,” reported Law&Crime’s Matt Naham on Wednesday.

“[A] trustee must be appointed,” the creditors’ attorneys wrote in their motion, arguing that Giuliani had “accomplished almost nothing” in the five months since he filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, blasting him for “filing false and misleading financial reports, delaying the inevitable monetization of his assets, ignoring this Court’s orders, trying to retain professionals and attempting to relitigate” the $148 million defamation judgment.

In what Naham described as an “eye-popping paragraph,” the creditors accused Giuliani of possible “bankruptcy crimes” that needed investigation because it appeared he was “funneling funds that belong to his creditors to his business and using his business as a personal piggy bank, which is fraudulent”:

Mr. Giuliani is a criminally indicted debtor who claims no income except social security payments. He has been suspended from his job at WABC, and his WABC radio show has been cancelled. The Debtor previously identified this radio show as a source of income for him personally (though he never reported such on monthly operating reports). He has been suspended from the practice of law and thus cannot earn income as a lawyer. He is facing a judgment of $148 million, other claims of many millions more, and self-reports just $10 million of assets. His financial reporting and record-keeping are abysmal, as he commingles his personal affairs with those of his shill businesses. And it follows therefrom that the Debtor cannot find even one accountant willing to work for him. Among other things, the chapter 11 trustee and the Committee will now need to investigate whether the Debtor is liable for bankruptcy crimes through the use of his businesses to divert resources away from his estate and creditors in connection with his purported income that he allegedly never personally received.

Giuliani’s new “Rudy Coffee” venture gets targeted too, for a contract that “directs all payments (‘80% of the net profit of each sale of Rudy Coffee’) to Giuliani Communication’s bank account,” with the creditors accusing the man once revered as “America’s Mayor” of wrongfully trying to divert this income.

Even Giuliani’s Amazon shopping list was under scrutiny, with the lawyers railing about the continuation of his “egregious spending habits” during the bankruptcy proceedings, including a reported “60 Amazon transactions, charges for entertainment such as Netflix, Prime Video, Kindle, Audible, Paramount+ and Apple services and products and numerous Uber rides.”

The creditors’ motion concluded with a proposed order for the bankruptcy judge to sign that would appoint a trustee to “take control of the Debtor’s assets and financial affairs,” including “tak[ing] control of the companies in which the Debtor holds a controlling ownership interest” and manage “all day-to-day operations.”

The structure

We’re going to start with a heavy(ish) compound exercise that works your arms and shoulders together. Then we’ll move on to moderately heavy exercises, starting with the ones that didn’t get hit very hard on the compound. We’ll superset exercises where we can, to save time. It will look something like this: 

1. Shoulder press of your choice - 5 sets, heavy, anywhere between 3-8 reps, with 2 minutes of rest between sets.

2. (optional) Rear delt work - 3 sets of 8-12 reps

3. Bicep/tricep superset - 3 sets of 8-12 reps each 

4. Shoulder superset - 3 sets of 10+ reps each

5. (optional) Light bicep/tricep superset - 3 sets of 12-15 reps each

For a 30 minute workout, skip the optional sections and just do a shoulder press, bicep/tricep superset, and a shoulder superset. The first 15 minutes will be spent on the shoulder press and the rests between sets; the other components you can speed through with basically no rest. 

To get more work in, take some extra time and do the optional sections. If you try that and find you’re recovering well, it’s fine to add more bi/tri supersets or double up on any of the components of the workout that you’d like to spend more time on.

How this fits into your week: Once a week is okay, but this workout should ideally be done twice per week. It’s also fine to do this workout once, and a different upper-body workout another time. 

Note that this workout does not target your chest and back, so it’s not a full upper body workout. You could do this in a rotation that goes: 

• Arms and shoulders

• Legs

• Chest and back

• (rest or repeat)

How to turn this into a full upper-body workout: replace one or both of the bicep/tricep supersets with a push/pull superset that uses chest and back muscles. We’ll discuss this when we get to that section.

Read on for more detail on each component of the workout, and the choices that you have for each section.

Part 1: the press

You can do any kind of shoulder press or overhead press here, with any appropriate equipment. Here are some good choices for the press: 

• Standing barbell strict press

• Seated dumbbell shoulder press (upright, not incline)

• Standing single or double kettlebell press

• Z-press (seated on the floor with legs spread for stability)

• Landmine press (my top pick for anyone with shoulder pain when their arms are directly overhead)

If you have another favorite press, feel free to swap it in. I don’t recommend push presses here; keep your knees straight on any of those standing presses. Push presses are great, but not right now.

Rest time: 2 minutes or more. This press at the beginning of the workout is meant to be a heavy exercise for strength building (we’ll do some pump work later) so make sure you’re taking adequate rest between sets.

Reps per set: about 5. Keep the reps in the single digits. You could go as low as 3 reps per set, but I wouldn’t go much higher than 8. If you want to think of this as a “5x5” routine, that may help you remember. 

Weight to use: Anything that lets you get the desired number of reps. It’s okay to use a different weight for each set if you like, but try to make your last set the heaviest. 

How to progress: Choose your own adventure. Look at last week’s workout, and add weight or reps to at least one set. For example: 

• Last week you did 50 pounds for 8 reps on all five sets. This week, go with 55 pounds for your last two sets and see how many reps you can get. 

• Last week you did five reps each at 20, 25, 30, 30, 30 pounds. This week, do five reps each at 25, 30, 30, 30, 35. 

Sure, you could do a straightforward double progression, but I like to give myself the option to change things up based on how things are feeling. Variety is fun and can be good for us.

Part 2: (optional) rear delt work

Your deltoids are the muscles that sit on top of your shoulder like a big 1980s shoulder pad, and they’re each made of three parts: front, side, and rear. The front and side delts get a pretty good workout from overhead pressing, so at this point in our workout the rear delts can use some extra love. Here are some good options: 

• Bent-over dumbbell reverse fly

• Reverse fly, supported on an incline bench (lay face-down)

• Band pullaparts

• Face pulls on a cable machine

• Reverse fly on a machine such as a pec deck

Rest time: 90 seconds or less. If you think you’ll get bored waiting, grab a pair of dumbbells and so some curls in between sets. 

Reps and weight: 3 sets of 8 to 12 reps. Weight can be anything that gets you the appropriate number of reps per set.

How to progress: Add weight or reps each time. If you’re using a resistance band, you’ll have to go by feel, but work toward using a stronger band or a narrower grip over time. 

Part 3: bicep/tricep superset

Here’s where we get to the fun stuff! You can pick anything for these. Some classic isolation exercises for biceps: 

• Barbell curls (or ez-bar curls)

• Bayesian curls, described here (it’s a cable curl from a stretched position)

• Dumbbell curls

• Hammer curls

• Zottman curls

• Cable curls

And for triceps: 

• Skullcrushers 

• Overhead dumbbell tricep extensions

• French press

• Tricep kickbacks

• Cable pushdowns

If your goal today is to work only arms and shoulders, stick to those lists. But if you’re trying to turn this into a general upper-body workout that includes chest and back, go with a pull exercise instead of bicep isolation, such as: 

• Chinups

• Pullups

• Seated cable rows

• Barbell bent-over rows or Pendlay rows

• Kroc rows

And go with a push exercise instead of a tricep isolation: 

• Close grip bench press

• Dips

• Pushups

• Incline or overhead press (choose a different variation from what you did at the beginning of the workout)

We’ll do another bis/tris superset at the end of the workout, so you can always go with a push/pull here and save the isolations for the other superset. 

Rest time: As needed. Try resting 30 seconds after doing both exercises, but no rest in between. 

Reps and weight: 3 sets of 8 to 12 reps, with a weight that lets you complete the desired number of reps. You can go with a wider range (5 to 15?) if you prefer. 

How to progress: Add reps each time, and when you can do three strong sets at the top of your rep range, add weight or change the difficulty (for example, try diamond pushups).

Part 4: shoulder superset

For this, we’re going to steal one of the two shoulder supersets from my best shoulder workouts post. The one most people will choose is the classic three-head deltoid isolation: 

• Dumbbell front raise

• Dumbbell lateral raise

• Bent-over dumbbell reverse fly

Do these in a circuit, moving immediately from one exercise to the next without putting the dumbbells down. I like to choose a different starting point for each round: maybe front/lateral/rear the first time, lateral/rear/front the second time, and so on. Don’t worry if the number of reps varies from set to set; fatiguing your shoulders is more important than counting reps.

Rest time: As needed between circuits, about 30 seconds. 

Reps and weight: Aim for 10-15 reps of the first exercise, and then keep going with that weight even if it means your reps drop off (maybe 15, 12, 10 during the first round, 12, 10, 8 the second round…it’s all good). 

How to progress: When you’re easily getting more than 15 reps on multiple sets, add weight. 

Part 5 (optional): light bicep/tricep superset

For this finisher, we’re doing another bicep/tricep superset, but this time with lighter weight. Refer to the list of options above, but choose different exercises than the ones you did earlier in the workout. Maybe you did pushups and pullups before, so you’ll do Zottman curls and skullcrushers this time. 

I’m going to give you two options for how to set this up: 

Rest, reps, and weight, option 1: 3 sets of 12 or more reps. Rest at least 30 seconds between supersets. Add weight when you can do 15+ reps for all three sets.

Rest, reps, and weight, option 2: Choose a weight that you think you can handle for at least one set of 15. Set a timer for 5 minutes and do as many sets as possible, with as little rest as possible, until time is up. Expect your reps to drop sharply—maybe you do 15 at the beginning, but can only manage 3 at the end. The point is to keep moving as much as you can within the 5 minutes.

So there you have it: a full arms-and-shoulders workout, modifiable to a full upper-body workout, that you can do in as little as 30 minutes or enhance with extra sets to fill out an hour or more at the gym. Keep track of your progress in a notebook or on an app (or even a note in your phone) and enjoy seeing your arms and shoulders get stronger over time.

Todd Blanche, one of the lawyers representing former President Donald Trump in his hush money case, wrapped up his closing argument on Tuesday — but not before he got a lashing by Judge Juan Merchan.

As he concluded his final argument before the jury in the defense of Trump — who is charged with 34 counts of falsifying business documents — Blanche reportedly made a request to the jury to “not send his client to prison.”

According to Harry Litman of The LA Times, Merchan responded harshly, saying: “I think that was outrageous, Mr. Blanche. Someone who has been a prosecutor as long as you should know. It’s hard for me to imagine how that was accidental in any way.”

The accounts of the statement by The New York Times reporters Maggie Haberman and Jonah Bromwich went into more detail about the exchange that followed:

Bromwich wrote:

Before he concluded, Todd Blanche asked that the jurors not send his client to prison. Now, with the jury excused, Joshua Steinglass, the prosecutor who will give his side’s closing argument, stands up and objects. “That was a blatant and wholly inappropriate effort to call sympathy for their client,” Steinglass says, asking for a curative instruction.

Then Haberman wrote:

Justice Merchan is now excoriating Todd Blanche for making an “outrageous” statement. Merchan is clearly furious, and reminds Blanche, and not for the first time, that he was a prosecutor for long enough to know that it was out of bounds.

Bromwich followed up with more from Merchan:

“Making a comment like that is highly inappropriate,” the judge said. “It is simply not allowed, period. It’s hard for me to imagine how that was accidental.”

The prosecution is set to make their closing argument on Tuesday as well, with the judge’s instructions for the jury expected on Wednesday.

When you apply for a loan, credit card, or apartment, you'll likely see references to "hard inquiries" and "soft inquiries" to your credit report. The differences may seem negligible as a consumer (after all, the companies do the work, while you don't have to do much of anything), but it's important to understand the difference between them: One can potentially impact your credit scores, and the other one doesn't.

What is a soft credit inquiry?

A soft inquiry, or "soft pull," refers to when your credit report is checked, but it's not tied to an application for new credit or a loan. Soft inquiries have no effect on your credit scores. Some common examples of soft inquiries include:

• Checking your own credit report

• An employer checking your credit for employment purposes

• Credit card companies checking for promotional offers

• Lenders giving you pre-approved credit offers

Since soft inquiries don't impact your scoring, you don't have to worry about how many accumulate on your credit reports over time.

What is a hard credit inquiry?

A hard credit inquiry occurs when a lender, credit card issuer, or other financial company checks your credit report because you have formally applied for new credit or a loan product with them. Examples of hard pulls include:

• Applying for a new credit card, mortgage, auto loan, student loan, etc.

• Applying to rent an apartment or home

• Requesting a credit limit increase from an existing lender

Unlike soft inquiries, hard inquiries can potentially cause a small, temporary drop in your credit scores, typically around five points or less. However, the impact diminishes over time as the inquiries get older.

Hard inquiry impact and limits

While a single hard inquiry likely won't lead to a huge credit score drop, it's still wise to minimize them as much as possible. Applying for multiple credit products in a short period can lead to several hard inquiries stacking up, which can then significantly impact your scores. Most credit scoring models look at inquiries from the last 12 months when calculating your scores. Additionally, multiple inquiries for mortgage, auto, or student loans within a short period (14-45 days typically) may be counted as a single inquiry to allow for rate shopping.

The bottom line

Soft inquiries have no impact on credit scores, while hard inquiries can cause a small, temporary scoring drop. Before applying for new credit, check your credit reports to monitor your inquiries, and try to avoid unnecessary applications and credit checks, when possible.

Naismith Basketball Hall of Famer Bill Walton passed away at the age of 71, the NBA announced in a statement on Monday.

“Bill Walton was truly one of a kind. As a Hall of Fame player, he redefined the center position. His unique all-around skills made him a dominant force at UCLA and led to an NBA regular-season and Finals MVP, two NBA championships and a spot on the NBA’s 50th and 75th Anniversary Teams,” wrote NBA Commissioner Adam Silver. “Bill then translated his infectious enthusiasm and love for the game to broadcasting, where he delivered insightful and colorful commentary which entertained generations of basketball fans.”

“As a cherished member of the NBA family for 50 years, Bill will be deeply missed by all thos who came to know and love him. My heartfelt condolences to Bill’s wife, Lori; his son’s, Adam, Nate, Luke and Chris; and his many friends and colleagues,” he added.

Walton played four years at UCLA where he won two national championships and was named the national college player of the year three times. He went on to have an illustrious career in the NBA for the Portland Trail Blazers, San Diego, and Los Angeles Clippers, as well as the Boston Celtics, winning two NBA championships, and one MVP award.

After retiring, Walton went on to enjoy a long career as a color commentator for CBS, NBC, and ESPN. His son Luke Walton followed in his footsteps as an NBA player before pursuing a coaching career.

Defense attorney Ron Kube ripped Donald Trump’s legal team in his hush money trial for appealing to Trump’s “vanity” instead of the jury on CNN Monday.

Kube first noted that the credibility issues for the prosecution’s star witness, Michael Cohen, represented a vulnerability for its case, but also noted that prosecutors rely on unsavory characters all the time.

“They call the worst people: mafia killers, father-daughter rapist, murderers to testify. And those people are believed because their testimony is corroborated,” argued Kube before laying into Trump’s lawyers.

“But Trump’s defense team isn’t speaking to 12 jurors, plus alternates. They’re speaking to one person, and that’s Donald Trump, you know, which is a very bad way to to run a case,” he argued. “I’m very clear with my clients at the outset: ‘Look, I don’t tell you how to commit armed robberies. Don’t tell me how to try your case. Everybody should play to their strengths here.’ But we have seen the defense team make decisions over and over again. That can only be explained by a desire to appeal to Donald Trump’s vanity. And that’s, I think, perilous at best.”

The parties are set to make their closing arguments beginning on Tuesday, after which the jury will begin to deliberate. CNN senior legal analyst Elie Honig has argued that closing arguments could be especially “crucial” in this case after the long Memorial Day weekend.

“It really heightens the importance of closings,” submitted Honig. “And closings are always crucial, but here the parties are going to have to really bring the jury back to the evidence, some of which is over a month ago that the jury heard it. So closings are always crucial, but especially here when you have this kind of gap.”

MSNBC legal analyst Neal Katyal predicted that former President Donald Trump will be convicted is New York hush money trial.

The Republican nominee faces criminal charges for allegedly falsifying business documents regarding hush money payments during the 2016 election season. Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg has charged him with 34 felony counts of falsifying business records regarding the reimbursements checks he gave to Michael Cohen for the amount of $130,000 given to Stormy Daniels to allegedly cover up their affair allegation.

During a Sunday interview on MSNBC with host Jen Psaki, Katyal said that Trump’s claim that he was not aware Cohen gave payments to Daniel was false because he “watched over every penny” in his business.

Trump is also criminally indicted in three separate Jurisdictions for his attempts to overturn the 2020 presidential election and his handling of classified material after leaving the White House.

PSAKI: What we should expect from the defense, given what we’ve seen over the last couple of weeks in their closing argument?

KATYAL: The first thing I’d say, Jen, is it’s just significant that we are having we’re finally at closing arguments after Trump’s repeated attempts to delay this, to stop this trial, even just a couple days ago, rushing to the Court of appeals, saying the judge has to be recused for bias and stuff. All of that has been beaten back by the appellate court in New York. And so now we are finally going to get to closing arguments. And I think what the Trump defense is going to do is basically to say, this is not a case about Donald Trump. It’s a case about Michael Cohen and then putting Michael Cohen on trial. But call him a liar. They’ll say he was convicted because he was a liar, that he’s in it for his own ends, that he’s in it for ego because he’s not a spurned lover, but a spurned lawyer by Donald Trump and the like. And what the prosecution is going to say, picking up on what Andrew said just a moment ago, and I totally agree with that, is that this is not just a case about Michael Cohen, it’s a case about Michael Cohen — plus. Cohen is just gravy.

And it’s things like the Hope Hicks testimony that Andrew referred to, but it’s also handwritten notes that we’ve got. And those checks that you just flashed on the screen a moment ago, which picks up on paragraph 33 in the complaint, these are checks that Donald Trump himself signed. And so that shows knowledge of the whole scheme. And I think at the end of the day that Trump defense is going to play trying to get to beyond a reasonable doubt, just getting one juror who’s going to say, hey, I disagree because in our system that means you can’t put him in jail. And the prosecution is going to say, hey, this is common sense. We’re talking about a guy, Donald Trump, who watched every penny. Do you really think that he would have been cool with all this money going out of his account without knowing it? Do you really think he would just reimburse $430,000 or whatever that number is, without some knowledge about what was going on? Of course not. So it’s a common sense case, and I suspect that it’s going to be successful.

Libertarian presidential candidate Michael Rectenwald confirmed to reporters on Sunday that he ingested drugs before taking the stage to bash former President Donald Trump after his speech at the party’s convention, saying it’s “not some sort of a major political scandal” to do so at the Libertarian convention.

Trump spoke at the party’s convention in Washington D.C. on Saturday evening where he was met with boos and a hostile audience, as did his boosters. Many of the attendees criticized the party’s leadership for allowing Trump to speak at the convention.

Following the Republican nominee’s remarks, Recetenwald went on stage to react to Trump’s speech, saying that it “so foolish” he wasn’t able to “take it that seriously.”

He said he wouldn’t even try to “run down a litany of all the egregious offenses against our freedom” from Trump’s administration. But Rectenwald appeared to stumble over some of his words, prompting some to question his sobriety. One person asking point blank, “How are you?”

Following the conference, Rectenwald confirmed to Washington Post reporter Meryl Kornfield that he ate an edible before answering the questions on stage.

“This was not some sort of a major political scandal, okay. I wasn’t found in bed with Stormy Daniels. I’m at a Libertarian Party convention. Somebody offered me something,” Rectenwald told Kornfield.

The Libertarian National Convention briefly ground to a halt Sunday as Party Chair Angela McArdle phoned Robert F. Kennedy Jr. from the podium to tell him he had been nominated for consideration as the Party’s presidential candidate.

After confirming that Kennedy was a member of the Libertarian Party and that he had filed the proper paperwork, McArdle asked the delegates, “Does he accept the nomination?”

A man in a Kennedy T-shirt answered, “We have confirmation that he does.”

However, McArdle wanted to hear those words from Kennedy himself.

“Do you want me to call him and ask him if he accepts the nomination?” McArdle asked and received a resounding, “Yes!” from the delegates.

While standing at the podium, McArdle dialed Kennedy on her cell phone.

She could be heard saying into the phone, “I’m at the podium and need to ask you if you accept the nomination.”

Some members grew impatient waiting for Kennedy to answer, with one woman asking the chair to pass the gavel so they could get on to other business.

McArdle finally turned back to the microphone, saying, “He’s going to get back to us!”

Donald Trump was also nominated from the floor but was ruled ineligible since he had not filed the required paperwork. Trump was met with hostility and boos when he spoke to delegates on Saturday and asked for their votes.

The Libertarian Party is expected to consider all nominations and put forth one name by the end of the convention.

Kennedy, who is running as an Independent, eventually accepted the nomination and released a short video statement where he called it an “unexpected honor.”

“I’m very grateful to the Libertarian Party for this great honor, and I look forward to an alliance across the country, a fusion alliance of all of these independent parties who are now challenging the Republican-Democrat corrupt duopoly,” Kennedy said.

According to CNN, “The Libertarian ticket was seen as a possible pathway for Kennedy to circumvent ballot-access hurdles and take advantage of the party’s access to ballots in dozens of states. Kennedy is on the ballot in six states so far, compared with 38 states for the Libertarians.”

Former President Donald Trump had a rocky appearance before a rowdy crowd at the Libertarian National Convention in Washington, D.C., on Saturday. From receiving loud boos to making promises about freeing a notorious drug kingpin, here are the five wildest moments from Trump’s speech.

1. Trump gets booed right from the jump.

As soon as he stepped on the stage, Trump was mercilessly jeered at by convention attendees, some of whom waved “Free Ross [Ulbricht]” signs and gave Trump the “thumbs down.” One sign read, “MAGA = Socialist.” The former president  tried to put on a brave face and scanned the crowd as it drowned out his signature entrance song, God Bless the U.S.A.

It was a far cry from the adoring crowds Trump was used to addressing.

“A lot of people asked why I came to speak at this Libertarian Convention, and, you know, it’s an interesting question, isn’t it?” Trump said at the lectern while chuckling. “But we’re going to have a lot of fun!”

Trying to appeal to the crowd, Trump said, “In the last year, I’ve been indicted by the government on 91 different things. So, if I wasn’t a Libertarian before, I sure as hell am a Libertarian now.”

That comment received a mixture of boos and cheers. Trump reportedly cut his speech short, speaking for only about 30 minutes, instead of his usual 90+ minutes.

2. Trump promises Libertarians a cabinet post.

In another effort to appease the crowd, Trump announced that if elected, he will appoint Libertarians to posts within his administration. The jeers continued, however, as Trump made his promise to the party.

“Now, I think you should nominate me, or at least vote for me, and we should win together. You heard those words: nominate or vote, vote for me,” Trump said, continuing:

Because the Libertarians want to vote for me and most of them will. And it’s very important, because we have to get rid of the worst president in history. And together we will, and without it, there’s a risk that we could have four more years, we won’t have a country left.

So, what is the purpose of the Libertarian Party getting 3%? What is the reason to take a chance of having this horrible president destroy our country, which he will do in less than four years? It’s not gonna take four years. That is why I’m committing to you tonight that I will put a Libertarian in my cabinet. And also, Libertarian in senior posts. Pretty good. That’s pretty big.

3. Trump promises to free a notorious drug kingpin.

Trump made a promise to free Silk Road founder and Libertarian cause célèbre Ross Ulbricht, who is serving a double-life sentence for drug trafficking, hacking, and money laundering through his website that was hosted on the Dark Web.

“And if you vote for me on day one, I will commute the sentence of Ross Ulbricht to a sentence of time served,” Trump said to cheers and chants of “Free Ross!”

“He’s already served 11 years. We’re gonna get him home. We’re gonna get him home,” Trump said.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement said Ulbricht used the handle “Dread Pirate Roberts” to cause “more than $200 million in illegal drugs and other illicit goods” to be “bought and sold on the site.”

At the time of Ulbricht’s arrest, federal prosecutor Preet Bharara said, “Make no mistake: Ulbricht was a drug dealer and criminal profiteer who exploited people’s addictions and contributed to the deaths of at least six young people.”

Ulbricht was 30 when he was convicted. He tweeted from prison this spring:

4. Trump fires back at angry crowd.

Trump quoted from an American Spectator piece that argued “The Libertarian Party should nominate Trump for President of the United States.” That suggestion drew furious boos, and Trump returned fire.

“That’s nice. Only if you want to win, only if you want to win. Maybe you don’t want to win … If you want to lose, don’t do that. Keep getting your three percent every four years.”

The Convention ended up nominating Independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. for president on Sunday. Kennedy is polling way above 3%, coming in around 13% to Trump’s 37% and Biden’s 39%, according to a recent NBC poll.

However, the Kennedy family has come out against RFK Jr.’s candidacy.

Rory Kennedy told MSNBC she feared her brother “takes many more votes from Biden than he does from Trump. And I think this election is going to come down to a handful of votes in a handful of states, and I’m concerned that his campaign and running for office as an independent is going to lead to Trump’s election.”

5. Trump’s sycophants try to spin speech as a W.

You’d never know by listening to his MAGA faithful that Trump was practically booed off the stage during most of his speech at the Libertarian National Convention.

Utah Sen. Mike Lee (R), who himself was heckled at the convention, posted a video to X shortly after Trump’s speech, and wrote that the former president “knocked it out of the park”:

Ok, so I just finished speaking at the Libertarian Convention and then President Trump spoke right after me. This was amazing. No other president in history, to my knowledge, has ever showed up at another political party’s convention, openly asked for their endorsement, and just really hit the ground running. Well done, President Trump. I think you won the hearts and minds of a whole lot of Libertarians out there and a whole lot of other Americans.

Vivek Ramaswamy, who’s said to be on Trump’s short list for V.P., defended Trump after the Biden-Harris campaign mocked his speech.

The Libertarians, themselves, weren’t quite as bowled over with the former president.

Semafor reported:

Most of the paid-up members of the Libertarian Party were unhappy with the Trump appearance. At best, it was a chance to push a potential president on their issues — which worked, when it came to Ulbricht. At worst, it made the party look like an appendage of the MAGA movement.

Former Republican presidential primary candidate Vivek Ramaswamy was booed more than once at the Libertarian National Convention in Washington, D.C. on Friday, first just for even mentioning Donald Trump, who is speaking at the event on Saturday.

Ramaswamy, who has long claimed to be libertarian if not part of the Libertarian Party, has become even more of a Trump supporter since losing in the Republican primary than he was during it – a primary in which he and presumptive nominee Trump largely avoided criticizing one another.

When speaking to the convention crowd on Friday evening, Ramaswamy brought up Trump as he was asking whether the gathered attendees would rather be happy with getting a very small percent of the vote than having any influence on a Trump administration — and the booing began just at the mention of Trump’s name.

Ramaswamy was booed a second time when he said the only way to “save this country” is with a “libertarian-nationalist alliance.”

He did win back some cheers later in his remarks when he called for shutting down the FBI, the ATF, the CDC, the TSA, the FTC, and the Department of Education, as well as for firing “75% of the federal bureaucrats in Washington, D.C. and send them home packing.”

RAMASWAMY: The question is, do you want to get 3% or shoot for that as a stretch goal? Or do you actually want to change this country by working together? And I will tell you this. I’m speaking to you as a libertarian at my own core. I have gotten to know Donald Trump over the course of the last several years and the last several months.

(CROWD BOOING)

RAMASWAMY: And you’re going to hear from him tomorrow night. And the question is, do you want to influence the next administration or don’t you? That is the question for this room to ask. And my thesis for you… You’ll believe it — ?

RAMASWAMY: You all get to speak your mind, I respect that. Libertarians in the room got to speak up. But now the question is, how do you get it done? I believe the future of this country depends on a libertarian nationalist alliance that will save this country.

RAMASWAMY: That’s what I believe is required. And my challenge to you is: How do we work together to actually restore free speech in this country?

Robert F. Kennedy Jr’s independent presidential campaign handed out rubber chickens to squeak ahead of former President Donald Trump’s speech at the Libertarian convention.

This weekend, the presumptive Republican nominee is set to speak in Washington D.C. at the Libertarian National Convention, following Kennedy’s speech earlier this week. Trump is leading in multiple swing state elections, but the races are narrow enough to where independent and libertarian voters could tip the scale.

Kennedy has challenged Trump and President Joe Biden to invite him to the scheduled two debates later this year, but his demands have gone unnoticed. Now the independent candidate, and former Democratic primary challenger, is using rubber chickens to get Trump’s attention.

Fox News reporter Alexis McAdams reported on the rubber chickens live from the Washington Hilton Hotel, where the convention is being hosted. She noted that the yellow props had “Debate Bobby” written in black marker on them.

“They say tonight people are going to be squeezing these when Trump is on that stage because they want to take him on, on the debate stage,” McAdams told viewers.

Trump and Biden are scheduled to debate first on June 27 with CNN and debate again on September 10th on ABC News. CNN has noted that RFK Jr. does not meet the requirements to qualify for the first presidential general election debate.
