Jill Biden’s White House Christmas Video Sparks Online Meltdown From Right-Wing Critics: ‘How Far Things Have Fallen’
First Lady Jill Biden’s annual White House Christmas video showcasing tap dancers was roasted by right-wing critics online as “tacky” and “freaky.”
The two-and-a-half minute clip posted to X, formerly known as Twitter on Wednesday night, featured Dorrance Dance’s interpretation of the “Nutcracker Suite.” Colorfully adorned dancers in flamboyant headdresses could be seen tap-dancing their way across the White House hallway into the Blue Room, which was decorated in Nutcracker-themed colors.
The president’s wife labeled the performance a “magic, wonder, and joy,” but right-wing online commenters were not impressed as many contrasted it to the 2020 Christmas video released by former First Lady Melania Trump.

“What’s with the Hunger Games aesthetic,” wrote conservative online blogger Ian Miles Cheong. “Melania Trump raised the bar with Christmas decorations in 2017. How far things have fallen since Biden took the White House.”
Meanwhile former Trump adviser Stephen Miller responded by noting, “This is a crime against Christmas.” The British-American online personality Andrew Tate posted a video comparing the video to the costumes worn by the decadent upper class featured in the Hunger Games movie, writing, “This is dystopian. If I believed in fear – I would be afraid.”

Conservative commentators, including Mollie Hemmingway and Monica Crowley, filled their timelines with videos and comments denigrating the light-hearted video as a “holiday horror show.” One user, Matt Wallace, even complained without evidence that the White House featured “drag queens” in the video while Trump’s includes “Jesus.”
Every year the White House releases a video of their Christmas decorations.

The White House did not respond to the online attacks as the video has racked in more than 16,000 likes and over 7,000 reposts.
