‘A Travesty to the Sport!’ ESPN Analyst GOES OFF After Undefeated Florida State Gets Left Out of College Football Playoff

Seconds after the four teams selected for the College Football Playoff were announced, an ESPN analyst went off about one of the two teams who were snubbed.

Speaking on the College Football Playoff Selection Show Sunday, ESPN’s Booger McFarland blasted the selection committee for leaving undefeated Florida State out of the tournament. It is the first time in the history of the playoff that an undefeated power five conference champion has been snubbed.

“This is a travesty to the sport!” McFarland said. “Because we go out on the field and we play the game. And regardless of whether it looks good at the quarterback position, regardless of whether we win with the offense, whether we win with defense, the name of the game is to win. And that’s a reason never before has this not been done. Winning a Power five conference, going undefeated and not getting into the playoffs.”

Florida State won the ACC conference championship on Saturday with a 16-6 victory over Louisville. However, they played the game with their third string quarterback as their starter is out for the season. The selection committee evidently believed that was justification for selecting Alabama and Texas — both of which have lost — ahead of Florida State. McFarland disagreed.

“The fact that this committee could take a Power five conference champion that’s undefeated — those kids who went out there and busted their behind and not get into the playoffs based on the eye test.” McFarland said.
