Young Turks Host Kasparian Loses It Over Kamala Harris for CA Gov Chances: ‘I’m Going To Quit My Job! And Move!’
The Young Turks co-host Ana Kasparian lost it at the suggestion Vice President Kamala Harris could “cakewalk” her way to becoming governor of California, a possible scenario she’s reportedly looking at.
“I think Kamala Harris would probably win in a cakewalk for governor,” Cenk Uygur told his Young Turks co-host on Thursday.
“No! What are you doing?! What are you doing?!” Kasparian said.
“I’m telling you the reality, whether you like it or not,” Uygur told her.
“What are you doing?!” Kasparian asked again.
“Democratic voters in California love to obey,” Uygur said.
California Gov. Gavin Newsom’s (D) current term ends on Jan. 4, 2027 and voters will vote for a new governor in 2026. Harris previously served as California’s attorney general and was later voted into the Senate. Before those positions, she served as the district attorney of San Francisco.
“Oh my God, oh my God, oh my God,” I’m going to move, Cenk,” Kasparian said on Thursday. “I’m going to quit my job, I’m going quit my job, and I’m going to move.”
“I’m not saying I’m in favor of it, I’m telling you what’s — like, if they, the Democratic Party, said, ‘we anoint Kamala Harris!’ a giant percentage of Democrats in California would go, ‘yes, we obey, we will take the loyalty oath, it doesn’t matter how bad she is,'” Uygur replied.
“This state cannot survive another incompetent Democrat leading it,” Kasparian said.
The Young Turks co-host encouraged Harris to leave “public life” altogether.
“Apparently, she’s in wait-and-see mode. How about you wait and see your way out of public life and go do what you’re supposed to do, go work in the private sector, go do the lobbying thing, whatever it is, but do not run as governor of California,” Kasparian said. “Do not!”
CNN senior reporter Isaac Dovere reported earlier this week that those around Harris believe she is not ruling out a future in politics after her loss to President-elect Donald Trump. According to the report, she could be weighing either another vote for president or a run for governor of California.
According to a poll from UC Berkeley Institute of Governmental Studies, and co-sponsored by The Los Angeles Times, more than 50% of California Democrats said in November they would support or likely support Harris in a run for governor.
Kasparian has recently become far more critical of Democrats, blasting the party’s handling of the migrant crisis and more. She also referred to Newsom as California’s worst governor by “a lot.”
