ESPN Insider Adam Schefter Trashes Report Suggesting He’s Doing the Bidding of NFL Agent
ESPN insider Adam Schefter took exception to a report claiming he was in cahoots with the agent of former NFL coach Pete Carroll.
On Wednesday, Schefter reported that Carroll was interested in returning to NFL sidelines. He last coached for the Seattle Seahawks in 2023. Not long after, ProFootballTalk’s Mike Florio published his own report referencing Schefter’s scoop. According to Florio, Schefter had ulterior motives.
Florio’s report read:
Adam Schefter of ESPN.com reports that Carroll wants back in. Which means, frankly, that Carroll’s agent has specifically told this to Schefter in the hopes that Schefter would broadcast it to the world, in the hopes of generating public opinion. Then, Carroll’s agent will owe Schefter big time.
And that’s how the sausage gets made.
Just minutes after Florio’s piece went live, Schefter responded on social media to shut down the implication.
“Everything you say here is 100 percent wrong,” Schefter tweeted. “Keep up the guess work and Merry Christmas.”
Schefter has recently gone out of his way to respond harshly to criticisms of his reporting. When Fox Sports radio host and college basketball coach Doug Gottlieb accused him of reporting bogus financial figures from a university, Schefter trashed him for his team’s disastrous season.
