MSNBC host Ali Velshi dedicated an entire hour to breaking down the 920-page Project 2025 initiative on Sunday morning.

Project 2025 is an initiative organized by the conservative Heritage foundation think tank (which featured contributions from more than 140 former members of Donald Trump’s White House, according to CNN) The document proposes a drastic reorganization of the federal government — consolidating power to the head of the executive branch. The project seeks to reclassify tens of thousands of federal civil service workers to become political appointees — which would pave the way for federal government to enable Trump loyalists to enforce his policies, should he be reelected in November.

Velshi broke down the various elements of Project 2025 by discussing the most radical elements of the plan’s policies as well as interviewing experts such as historian Michael Beschloss and former Biden White  House official (and current MSNBC host) Symone Sanders-Townsend. The host played a clip of Vice President Kamala Harris discussing the project before his opening monologue.

Donald Trump’s authoritarian desires are well known, and hearing him say he’ll end voting is just the latest in a long string of examples, which also include the time he called for the termination of the U.S. Constitution during a Truth social rant in December of 2022, because doing so would help his personal legal causes. Although, as it turned out, the Supreme Court sort of did that for him and its unhinged presidential immunity decision. Should Trump win and retake the white House, we know what to expect.
