Nike Founder Phil Knight Providing Alma Mater With ‘Unlimited’ NIL Funding in Hopes of Winning College Football Championship
Nike co-founder Phil Knight is reportedly willing to exhaust his vast resources to ensure the Oregon Ducks football team wins a national championship.
Former coach Rick Neuheisel revealed on SiriusXM College Sports Radio last Friday that Knight is essentially providing “unlimited” name, image, and likeness — or NIL — funding to his alma mater. Such a move essentially gives the program a blank check to give players however much they want to get them to play for the team.
Neuheisel claimed he was at a recent coaches event where it was “no secret” that Knight is throwing as much money as possible at the program.
Rick Neuheisel on ESPN CFB XM said he was at a recent coaches event, and it’s no secret Phil Knight is supplying Oregon unlimited NIL resources. Rick said Phil is 86, he desperately wants to see a championship, so they’re willing to pay whatever it takes.

In the 130 years of the program’s existence, the Oregon Ducks have won 14 conference titles but have yet to win a national championship. The Ducks last made the College Football Playoff in 2014.
That playoff drought will likely end during this upcoming season. In addition to the College Football Playoff expanding from four teams to 12, Oregon currently has the fifth-ranked recruiting class of 2024, according to 247Sports. That includes Dakorien Moore, the top-ranked high school wide receiver in the nation.
