Trump Rages Over Judge He Appointed Blocking Him from Deploying National Guard in Portland: ‘Ought to Be Ashamed!’

President Donald Trump seethed at the judge he appointed who granted a temporary restraining order blocking the administration from deploying the National Guard to Portland, OR.

Trump announced he was sending in troops to quell the chaos inside what he called the “war-ravaged” city. But he was blocked from doing so in a ruling issued Saturday in U.S. District Court.

Trump addressed the ruling Sunday on his way to Norfolk, Virginia, to celebrate the U.S. Navy’s 250th birthday.

“Portland was burning to the ground,” Trump said. “It’s insurrectionists all over the place. It’s antifa. And yet the politicians who are petrified — look, politicians are afraid for their lives. It’s the only reason they’re saying there’s nothing happening. And you’ve seen it. The place is burning down and and they pretend like there’s nothing happening.”

When asked about District Judge Karin Immergut halting his efforts to send in the Guard, Trump said, “I wasn’t served well if they put judges like that on. I wasn’t served well by the people that pick judges, I can tell you. Things like that, it’s too bad.”

Trump continued to bash the judge he nominated to the federal judiciary — repeatedly misidentifying her as a man.

“I appointed the judge and he [sic] goes like that,” Trump said. “So, I wasn’t served well. Obviously, if he [sic] made that decision — Portland is burning to the ground. You have agitators, instigators, all you have to do is look at your television, turn on your television, read your newspapers. It’s burning to the ground. The governor, the mayor, the politicians, they’re petrified for their lives. And that judge, he [sic] ought to be ashamed of himself [sic] .”

In her opinion, Judge Immergut found that Oregon and the city of Portland “are likely to succeed on their claim that the President exceeded his constitutional authority and violated the Tenth Amendment.”

The judge agreed that images of protesters clashing with federal officers, “are inexcusable, but they are nowhere near the type of incidents that cannot be handled by regular law enforcement forces.”

The temporary restraining order expires on October 18. The Trump administration has said it will appeal the judge’s decision.
