‘Truly Despicable’: Andrew Cuomo Slammed for Agreeing With Radio Host That Mamdani Would ‘Cheer’ for 9/11
Former Gov. Andrew Cuomo was harshly criticized for agreeing with a radio host Thursday that Assemblyman Zohran Mamdani would have cheered for the 9/11 attacks.
It all started when Cuomo appeared on Sid & Friends in the Morning, hosted by Sid Rosenberg, on Thursday. While talking about the New York City mayoral debate the previous night, Cuomo suddenly brought up the September 11 attacks. His argument was that New York deals with countless crises and other serious events, and that Mamdani would not be able to handle it all.
“Can you imagine Mamdani in the seat [on 9/11]?” Cuomo said.
In response, Rosenberg insisted that Mamdani would be “cheering” for the terror attack. Cuomo chuckled before adding, “That’s another problem.”
Hours later, responded on X/Twitter by proclaiming the comments were “just disgusting.”
Countless other notable political figures took to social media to condemn the exchange between Cuomo and Rosenberg.
Rep. Ritchie Torres (D-NY), who notably disagrees with Mamdani on the subject of Israel and Gaza, called the comments “beyond disgusting and disgraceful.”
Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) called the men in the audio clip “sick and hateful.”
New York State Sen. Gustavo Rivera called the former governor a “pathetic, racist clown.”
Many others shared similar sentiments.
