Benjamin Netanyahu Orders ‘Immediate, Powerful’ Israeli Strike on Gaza

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered an “immediate, powerful” strike on Gaza on Tuesday after Hamas violated the American-brokered ceasefire agreement and shot at Israeli soldiers.
“At the conclusion of the security consultations, Prime Minister Netanyahu instructed the military echelon to carry out immediate, powerful strikes in the Gaza Strip,” Netanyahu’s office announced in a brief statement, according to CNN.
Netanyahu’s decision comes after Hamas has violated the peace deal multiple times in the few weeks since it was brokered by President Donald Trump. Two Israeli Defense Forces soldiers were killed by terrorists last week in Rafah, in southern Gaza.
Another violation happened earlier on Tuesday, when Hamas gunmen started firing at Israeli troops in Rafah, according to The Times of Israel.
The violations come after Trump traveled to Israel on Oct. 13 to celebrate the ceasefire deal and the release of 20 living hostages.
Trump, while speaking to reporters on the flight over, declared “the war is over!” He was also asked if he believed the peace would last between Israel and Hamas.
“I think so. I think it’s going to hold. I think people are — a lot of reasons why it’s going to hold – but I think people are tired of it,” Trump said. “It’s been centuries [of fighting], okay, not just recent. It’s been centuries. I think people are tired of it.”
Trump has since said that if Hamas does not disarm, as part of its agreement, then its leaders would be killed.
The president has not yet weighed in on Israel’s “powerful” strike.
