Fox Hosts Roast Kamala Harris Over Report She Dropped Whopping Six Figures On Podcast Interview: ‘Looks Like It All Came From IKEA!’
The hosts of Fox & Friends Weekend were shocked by news that Vice President Kamala Harris reportedly spent $100,000 on her appearance on the Call Her Daddy podcast while cold-shouldering Joe Rogan.
Harris was interviewed in October by Alex Cooper, whose Call Her Daddy is one of the biggest podcasts in the world. According to a Washington Examiner report on the massive spending by Harris’s campaign, the vice president’s team dropped $100,000 to recreate Cooper’s podcast set so she could travel to Harris instead of the other way around.
On Saturday, Will Cain, Rachel Campos-Duffy, and Pete Hegseth roasted the price tag for Harris’s podcast appearance, arguing her team completely missed the point of going on a podcast during a political campaign in the first place.
“When I saw this, I’m like, well, the show pays for their own recreation of their own set, right? Like, we would do that. I mean, if I went somewhere, for example, to interview The Rock when I did that, who do you think paid for the cameras in the set? You know what I mean? Not The Rock. Yeah. He didn’t pay for the set,” Cain said.
Hegseth was shocked by the news the Los Angeles set was recreated in Washington DC and even more surprised by the price.
“$100,000!” Cain exclaimed as images of the set were shown. “Why did it cost so much?!”
“That’s true. It looks like it all came from IKEA!” Campos-Duffy said, arguing the careless spending reminded her of how the federal government treats spending tax dollars.
“By the way, what did they get out of that $100,000? A million views,” Hegseth said.
Cain argued that Harris’s team missed the entire point of podcasts, which is to come across authentically.
“Can I just say on that point, Pete, there’s a lot of conversation today about podcasts for TV, and I actually think a lot of that’s misplaced, and I think it’s important to point out that is a huge podcast — it’s up there with Rogan levels. Just to be clear, on its audience,” he said. “It’s not like just go on a podcast and you win the presidency. That’s not what the takeaway should be from this. That don’t do TV, don’t the podcast do is give you an opportunity to show a different side of yourself, a fuller version of your personality. You better have something good to show.”
The episode on YouTube currently has a little more than 800,000 views.
President-elect Donald Trump made a number of podcast appearances before the election, including on The Joe Rogan Experience. Rogan has explained he tried negotiating for Harris to also join his podcast, but her team did not want to give more than an hour. The podcaster and comedian said this week he told Harris’s team at a certain point he didn’t “give a fuck” about their demands and to just have the vice president show up.
Trump’s three hour-plus podcast with Rogan currently has approximately 48 million views.
“I would love to talk to her about all kinds of shit. I literally said — because there were a few restrictions of things they didn’t want to talk about, but I said, ‘I don’t give a fuck, get her in here,'” he said. “Like, whatever you want to talk about. Then they want to know if I edit. I was like, there’s not going to be any editing, there’s no editing. We’re not going to edit.”
