James Clapper Says Brennan’s Rhetoric Has Become ‘An Issue’: He’s ‘Subtle Like a Freight Train’
On Sunday, former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper suggested that former CIA director John Brennan‘s rhetoric has become an “issue.”
Speaking on CNN’s State of the Union, Clapper was responding to a question asking if Brennan’s “hyperbole” is an issue.
“I think it is,” Clapper replied, before adding Brennan is “subtle like a freight train and he’s going to say what is on his mind.”
“I think, though, that the common denominator among all of us that have been speaking up, though, is genuine concern about the jeopardy or threats to our institutions and values and… although we may express that in different ways,” Clapper said, before concluding, “John and his rhetoric have become, I think, an issue in and of itself.”
Clapper’s comments were prompted, in part, by an op-ed by Brennan published by The New York Times.
In it, Brennan insists President Donald Trump’s claims that there is no collusion are “hogwash.”
