5 Most Absurdly Fawning Questions From Lara Trump’s Fox News Interview With Trump
Lara Trump, the wife of Eric who now serves as a host at Fox News, sat down for an interview with her own father-in-law, President Donald Trump, to mark his sixth month in office this weekend.
It was not much of an interview. The Fox host shrugged off the backdrop of political crises for a conversation that offered more of a soft focus promotional campaign than a test of presidential mettle.
Broadcast on her Fox weekend show, My View, the interview took place as Texas continued to battle deadly floods, amid clashes over ICE deportations, and as a fractured MAGA base is feuding over the administration’s handling of the so-called Jeffrey Epstein files.
None of these topics were deemed worthy of a single question.
Instead, the president was offered a flattering sit-down — perhaps not surprising since Fox News elected to allow Trump to be interviewed by his own daughter-in-law. Here are some of the most astonishing questions from the interview.
Why are you so successful?
Lara floated the idea that Trump’s first half-year belongs in some kind of presidential hall of fame – he didn’t argue.
I think when people look at the first six months of this administration, you have had more success than, I think, many presidents in history throughout the term of their entire term in office. A lot of people look at what you’ve done though and they say had you not had four years in between maybe all of this success would not be possible. Do you agree with that?
Why are you so successful (redux)?
With the subtlety of a campaign ad, Lara asked how Trump defied the odds in 2024.
Throughout the four years while you are not here at this White House, I know there were some very dark times. Some time where people counted you out, thought you’d never come back, yet you’re here right now. So in those moments, what was it that kept you going? Why is it that you’re back here in this White House now despite so many people saying it was impossible?
Why is the Big Beautiful Bill so big and beautiful?
Lara skipped the fine print on OBBBA and pressed Trump on when the “positive impact” would kick in.
You talk about all the money coming into the country, how the big tariffs [sic] will be and leveling the playing field. You asked to have the One Big Beautiful Bill on your desk to sign on July 4, you got it on America’s birthday. The question a lot of people have is when will they start to see the positive impact from the One Big Beautiful Bill in their lives? The tax cuts and all of the big things from that we can see from that.
How does it feel to be the ‘bodyguard of Western civilization’?
Turning Point USA founder and famous Trump booster Charlie Kirk gave him the title in a 2020 RNC speech. Lara wanted to know if Trump likes it (he does).
Some people have called you the bodyguard of Western civilization. How do you feel about that title?
Trump’s Talent For Tapping Success In Others
This one is particularly impressive because Lara managed to not only fawn over her father-in-law, but also boost herself in one pointless question, marveling at Trump’s gift for discovering untapped greatness in others.
You seem to have a knack for putting people around you who are successful and make you even more successful. I think it’s been a trade of yours your entire life. If you got back to the Trump Organization you gave people opportunities that maybe they would never have taken themselves and I feel like you’ve seen things in people that they don’t even see in themselves as well. You did it for me but your cabinet is comprised of so many incredible people and people even a year ago, so many would never have imagined. Like RFK Jr. who, a year ago, was running for president as a Democrat. Why do you think you have this ability? I feel like it’s been to your benefit, look at this, if put together, there are people working to make America great again.
