Whistleblowers Allege Kash Patel Is Already Carrying Out ‘Purge’ of FBI Employees — Even Though He Hasn’t Been Confirmed Yet

A top Democratic Senator says he is in possession of “highly credible information” from “multiple” whistleblowers which shows FBI Director nominee Kash Patel is carrying out a “purge” of FBI employees before he has even been confirmed to the job.
In a letter to Inspector General Michael Horowitz Tuesday (obtained by The New York Times), Sen. Dick Durbin (D-IL) — who is the ranking Democrat on the Senate Judiciary Committee — alleged that Patel has already been purging FBI staff.
“I have received highly credible information from multiple sources that Kash Patel has been personally directing the ongoing purge of career civil servants at the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI),” Durbin wrote. “Although Mr. Patel is President Trump’s nominee to be FBI Director, he is still a private citizen with no role in government.”
According to Durbin, Patel is conducting the purge through several top White House and DOJ staffers — including Stephen Miller.
“I understand that Mr. Patel’s directives are being carried out through the concerted efforts of White House Deputy Chief of Staff to the President Stephen Miller, Acting Deputy Attorney General Emil Bove, and several members of a newly-established FBI Director’s Advisory Team (DAT),” Durbin said. “This alleged misconduct is beyond the pale and must be investigated immediately.”
Durbin alleged that during a Jan. 29 meeting scheduled by Acting FBI Director Brian Driscoll and Acting FBI Deputy Director Robert Kissane, it was relayed that a group of Executive Assistant Directors and other supervisors must “resign or be fired.” Durbin attributed this directive to Patel.
“Acting Deputy Attorney General Bove told meeting attendees that he received multiple calls from Stephen Miller the night before,” Durbin wrote. “Mr. Miller was pressuring him because Mr. Patel wanted the FBI to remove targeted employees faster, as DOJ had already done with prosecutors.
“According to my sources, Mr. Patel is receiving information from within the FBI from a member of the DAT. Mr. Patel then provides direction to Mr. Miller, who relays it to Acting Deputy Attorney General Bove. Each DAT member had represented to one or more officials at the Bureau at some point before January 30 that they had been in direct contact with Mr. Patel.”
During his confirmation hearing, Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ) asked Patel whether he was aware of any plans to terminate FBI employees involved with investigations into President Donald Trump. Patel said he was not. According to Durbin, Patel may have perjured himself.
“If these allegations are true, Mr. Patel may have perjured himself before the Senate Judiciary Committee,” Durbin wrote.
Durbin went on to detail his allegations in a Senate floor speech — which you watch above, via X.
