Two hospitals in the city of Springfield, Ohio, were forced into lockdown Saturday morning but later resumed normal operations after bomb threats were made against them, local police said.

The community has been thrust into the spotlight since Tuesday when former President Donald Trump claimed without evidence that Haitian migrants receiving asylum in the community were eating the pets of city residents.

Schools in Springfield were locked down Thursday and Friday after similar threats while other business was disrupted. According to Fox 8 in Cleveland, two separate medical centers were targeted by Saturday morning threats. The outlet reported:

On the morning of Saturday, Sept. 14, the Springfield Police Division was alerted to bomb threat against two hospitals in the city. Kettering Health Springfield, located on North Limestone Street, was one of the alleged targets. According to Kettering Health, police notified the hospital’s security team, who put the hospital under temporary lockdown.

Police officers and the hospital security team worked together to search the premises and did not find anything suspicious. Kettering Health says the lockdown has since been lifted.

Another hospital,  Mercy Health’s Springfield Regional Medical Center, was also threatened Saturday morning at around 6 a.m. Neither threat was deemed credible and both facilities are now open.

Police said in a statement, “We recognize that the past few days have been particularly challenging for everyone in our community. Please know that we remain fully committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of each and every person. We take any and all threats to our community’s safety very seriously and continue to work diligently to address them.”

During Tuesday night’s debate against Vice President Kamala Harris, Trump claimed of migrants in the city, “They’re eating the dogs. They’re eating the cats. They’re eating the pets of the people that live there.”

Local officials and residents of Springfield have disputed Trump’s claim.

The former president was asked to back up his claim Friday at a press conference in California but he changed the subject to the country’s border with Mexico.
