Trump Teases Releasing Epstein Files in Second Term: ‘A Lot of Big People Went To That Island’
Former President Donald Trump teased on The Lex Fridman Podcast that he would be open to releasing the Epstein files in a second term.
Trump told Lex Fridman he planned on releasing footage of UFOs and more documents related to the assassination of late President John F. Kennedy in his second term, and he said he was open to doing the same for the list of people who flew on the late Jeffrey Epstein’s plane to his private island.
Epstein died of an apparent suicide in a New York jail in 2019 after being arrested for sex trafficking. Prior to this, he was convicted of procuring a child for prostitution in 2008. The disturbing accounts of sex trafficking tied to Epstein and his longtime business partner Ghislaine Maxwell (who was sentenced to 20 years for conspiring to sexually abuse minors with Epstein) as well as his connections to top ranking politicians and Hollywood celebrities have led to numerous conspiracy theories about the names that have yet to be revealed who visited Epstein’s island.
Fridman told Trump on his podcast that he seemed to have a moment of “hesitation” about the Epstein documents compared to UFO and JFK-related files.
“There was a moment where you had some hesitation about Epstein, releasing some of the documents on Epstein. Why the hesitation?” Fridman asked.
“I don’t think I had any. I mean, I’m not involved. I never went to his island, fortunately. But a lot of people did,” Trump said.
The former president is a former friend of Epstein’s. He called him a “terrific guy” in 2002 comments, but by 2019 he said he was “not a fan” of Epstein and hadn’t spoken to him in more than a decade over a “falling out.”
Trump argued Epstein got close to so many rich and powerful people because he was a “good salesman.”
“He had some nice assets that he’d throw around, like islands. But a lot of big people went to that island, and fortunately I was not one of them,” he said.
“It’s strange for a lot of people that the list of clients that went to the island has not been made public,” Fridman said.
“Yeah, it’s very interesting, isn’t it? It probably will be,” Trump said.
He then clarified he would have no problem with releasing the files if he can.
“Yeah, I’d be inclined to do the Epstein. I have no problem with it,” Trump said.
