Buckle up, everyone. It’s going to be a bumpy campaign.

That was seemingly the warning on Thursday’s edition of ABC’s The View as the co-hosts spent their first segment interrupting each other to bemoan the chaos of the upcoming general election.

After playing former presidential candidate and former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie’s hot mic moment from his dropout announcement on Wednesday, the co-hosts started in on the remaining candidates and Sunny Hostin — through several interruptions — made her “disqualifying” case against former UN Ambassador Nikki Haley, including her support for banning abortions at six-weeks and her promise to pardon former President Donald Trump (or support him if he is the nominee). Sara Haines then argued that Christie dropping out of the race helped Haley, who was the best chance at an anti-Trump candidate. But then, of course, the conversation turned to the GOP frontrunner.

Alyssa Farah Griffin disagreed with Christie who said Haley would get “smoked” by Trump in New Hampshire, saying “the polls do not bear that out.” She also pointed out that “she’s actually showing up, whereas Donald Trump is not showing up. He’s not debating, he’s not caucusing. Iowa takes their primary, or their caucus, seriously. I think voters are going to notice who’s actually been in the state asking for their vote, talking about issues they care about.”

This was not enough for Hostin, and this was where the conversation spiraled into despair:

Hostin: I don’t think Nikki Haley is the right candidate.

Joy Behar: But she’s what they’ve got.

Hostin: Well it’s a very low bar.

And here’s the spiral:

Farah Griffin: On this issue of the third party. What I keep hearing from Democrats is “Wait, but a third party could take more votes from [President] Joe Biden than Trump.” Doesn’t that speak to how weak your candidate is? If you’re afraid that a third party actually… People are looking for more of another option than Biden and Trump?

Whoopi Goldberg: No one has voted. No one is uninformed about Biden. They know about Biden. They know about Bonehead. They don’t know. We don’t we don’t know. We don’t know what people are going to do. People have from now until then to say on Monday, they’ll say, “Well, I’m going to do this.” And on Tuesday they’ll say, “No, no, no.” Or Wednesday, they’ll say, “I’m gonna vote like my husband votes.”

You know, we’ve seen this. We’ve seen this. We don’t know, and that’s part of what’s fueling all of this, because we want it to be over. And it’s not going to be. And it shouldn’t be over like that.

Behar: I can’t take it.

Goldberg: It’s another year of this and you have to take it. … You need to take it because this is our lives we’re talking about.

Behar: I mean, the fact that we’re even talking about putting a psychopathic man into the Oval Office is making me nuts. I can’t even believe this is happening in my lifetime.

Hostin: It’s very possible because unfortunately, the Republican Party is a dying party, just like [former Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY)] said. It has to change. And the bottom line is they don’t have good candidates to put forth.

Farah Griffin: No, but if we’re risking him losing to Biden, it’s because the Democrats aren’t putting up someone who could be a 91-times-indicted candidate.

Goldberg: Wait a minute. I’m sorry. This is already… We already know the direction we’re going in. Everybody’s already said this is the direction. Even if there was another candidate, you couldn’t get them in there because no one would talk about it. Let’s talk about the media and the blackout on any other candidate but the ones that they want to see. So it’s not that the people are doing this. This is what we’re being shown.
