Some MAGA commentators on social media are outright accusing the Comedy Central show, South Park, and its creators, Matt Stone and Trey Parker, of having “blood on their hands” over the assassination of conservative leader Charlie Kirk.

Kirk was shot in the neck while hosting one of his “Prove Me Wrong” events at a Utah university, where he debated with audience members on the day’s hot topics. His death was announced by President Donald Trump on Wednesday afternoon after Kirk was rushed to the hospital.

Kirk was parodied in the Aug. 6 episode of South Park titled, “Got a Nut.” It featured the character Eric Cartman sporting Kirk’s signature hairstyle and debating progressive college students on campus.

The Hollywood Reporter called the mockery, “pretty tame by South Park standards.”

When the original episode aired, Kirk loved it so much, he called it a “badge of honor” to be satirized by South Park, and even changed his social media profile picture to the Cartman character.

“We as conservatives should be able to take a joke, we shouldn’t take ourselves so seriously – that’s something that the left has always done,” Kirk said at the time.

The New York Post reported that right-wing radio host Jesse Kelly told his listeners: “’South Park’ thought it was funny to turn Charlie into a cartoon joke. Now his wife is planning a funeral.”

In addition, The Post reported that a petition “demanding the network apologize for airing the parody racked up more than 100,000 signatures in its first day.”

Critics on social media erupted at the show, saying it helped “fuel this fire” that led to Kirk’s death. Below are some of those comments:

Comedy Central pulled the scheduled re-run of the South Park episode satirizing Kirk. According to Deadline.com, the episode is still available on Paramount+, but can no longer can be seen as part of Comedy Central’s rerun schedule.

Neither Parker nor Stone have commented so far.
