‘His Parents Are Millionaires!’ Fox News Host Shreds Zohran Mamdani’s Rent-Stabilized Apartment
Fox News host Kennedy slammed Democratic Party nominee for New York City mayor Zohran Mamdani on Monday for living in a rent-stabilized apartment while his parents are multi-millionaires.
“This anti-Trump push started today as Mamdani is getting attacked for living in a $2,300 a month rent-stabilized apartment, even though he makes $142,000 a year as a New York State assemblyman,” noted Fox News correspondent Bryan Llenas to begin the segment.
“Now, rent-stabilized apartments are meant for the lowest-income residents in need. Mamdani did tell New York editorial board that he got it when his salary was lower in 2018 and did not know it was rent-stabilized, and he planned on moving out but has not,” concluded Llenas.
Anchors Dana Perino and Bill Hemmer then introduced Kennedy and Jimmy Failla to discuss the topic as Kennedy mocked Mamdani, “I didn’t know it was rent-stabilized.”
“What an incompetent person—either he didn’t do his homework or he’s lying. But, you know, the case is—” Kennedy began as Perino quipped, “Or he got a sweetheart deal.”
“Of course, he got a sweetheart deal, because that’s how he’s grown up as a fancy lad, living a life of privilege in the lap of luxury. His parents are millionaires!” Kennedy added, referring to Mamdani’s mother Mira Nair – who is an Academy Award-nominated director.
“His wife is also very wealthy. We don’t know what she makes. I don’t care. I don’t know. This is a great argument against rent-stabilized apartments, because what happens is you have apartment skunks who move in, and they never move out because they don’t want their rent to go up. So it’s “it’s fine for me, but not for thee,” Kennedy concluded.
“This is the golden rule. Yeah, if you get one of these like golden tickets, you don’t give it up,” added Hemmer.
“Yeah, but it’s so infuriating to think back—of me, Jimmy Failla, cab driver Jimmy Failla. What I wouldn’t do… I don’t mean to brag, but when I was pulling in like $17K a year, a rent-stabilized apartment would have went a long way for a young Jimmy Failla. I was in a bad neighborhood. I was on a fifth floor walk-up. Okay, you had to get in there and lock that door and run, and it was not rent-stabilized—my blood pressure was not stabilized. I was in fear,” Failla added.
“But you were in shape,” joked Hemmer.
