Kanye West Distances Himself from Candace Owens’ ‘Blexit’ Campaign, Says He’s Getting Out of Politics
Kanye West got a lot of attention for his very public embrace of MAGA earlier this year, but now it’s starting to sound like he’s distancing himself from people he’s become politically aligned with.
West first tweeted what his actual beliefs are and thanked the people who supported him in that:
I support creating jobs and opportunities for people who need them the most, I support prison reform, I support common-sense gun laws that will make our world safer.

I support those who risk their lives to serve and protect us and I support holding people who misuse their power accountable.
I believe in love and compassion for people seeking asylum and parents who are fighting to protect their children from violence and war.

I would like to thank my family, loved ones, and community for supporting my ACTUAL beliefs and my vision for a better world.

But then he made it clear he wants no association with “Blexit”:
I introduced Candace to the person who made the logo and they didn’t want their name on it so she used mine. I never wanted any association with Blexit. I have nothing to do with it.

If you haven’t heard, Blexit was a campaign started by Candace Owens, who told Fox News, “Blexit is the black exit from the Democratic Party. It’s the black exit from permanent victimhood, the black exit from the false idea that we are somehow separate from the rest of America.”
She also said that West helped redesign the logo.
Owens put out this statement yesterday regarding West’s association with the campaign:
#BLEXIT is about the beautiful stories of so many black people who have awakened themselves to the possibilities of our future, as Americans.
The press is trying to use Kanye’s name to create drama and further divisiveness which is WRONG.

It’s unclear if West is unhappy with Owens in particular, but whatever the case may be, he followed up this afternoon by tweeting he is getting out of politics now after realizing “I’ve been used to spread messages I don’t believe in”:
My eyes are now wide open and now realize I’ve been used to spread messages I don’t believe in. I am distancing myself from politics and completely focusing on being creative !!!

Whether or not he’s actually being serious about any of this, West’s tweets were met with some amusement:
