On Tuesday night, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) appeared on The Late Show and had great confidence ahead of next week’s midterms.

Stephen Colbert began the interview by asking Pelosi how she’s been “feeling” and how does she feel “about the next six days.”

“Good,” Pelosi responded. “Let me say this; up until today, I would have said ‘If the election were held today, we would win.”

“What happened today changed that?” a gloomy Colbert asked.

“What I’m not saying is, ‘We will win!'” Pelosi enthusiastically responded. “We will win, we win in!”

Colbert, however, didn’t want to get his hopes up too soon.

“Please don’t say that, please don’t say that!” Colbert reacted. “Do you want to say that on Hillary‘s fireworks barge that she cancelled? Please, please, please don’t say that.”

Pelosi doubled down on her claim, insisting Democrats “own the ground” and that they’re “not yielding one grain of sand.”

“The Democrats will carry the House, if we have a bigger win, the Senate, governorships,” Pelosi continued. “It’s going to be a great night for America.”

The audience roared with applause, but Colbert remained skeptical.

“I feel like I should sacrifice a goat or something to take the hex off of what you just said,” Colbert joked.
