Dan Bongino Blames Media for Giuliani’s ‘Truth Meme’: Playing ‘Dopey Silly Games’

By News Here - 04:36

Cable news viewers tuning in this morning to their favorite shows looking for insight into Rudy Giuliani’s “truth isn’t truth” comments from yesterday’s Meet the Press likely found what they were looking for.  Morning Joe had on guest Jon Meacham to mock the Trump administration’s apparent troubles with objective truths, and on the other end of the dial, Fox & Friends had on reliable Trump defender Dan Bongino to do what else: blame the media!

Credit to co-host Steve Doocey for correctly introducing the “truth isn’t truth” controversy by explaining that Mr. Giuliani was making a broader point that James Comey and Donald Trump simply have two versions of the same interaction. But that was just a simple assist for Bongino to dunk on conservative media’s favorite villain for the divided age in which currently find ourselves: non-conservative media.

Bongino’s reply:

The media will jump on that because they are just being grossly irresponsible and think want to nail trump to the wall. But, Steve, here’s the thing. The FBI can’t themselves agree if truth is truth. Not just about the Comey meeting you are referring to but what about the Mike Flynn case? Hey, Steve, if the truth is the truth, then how come the FBI agent who told the air quotes here “Truth” and said they saw no evidence of deception in Mike Flynn’s interview.

How come Bob Mueller turned around and charged him with lying to the FBI. I’m not playing word games when I interview you when I sense no signs of deception. Wouldn’t that mean to a normal reasonable person I don’t think you lied? Apparently not to Bob Mueller. I know the media is having a lot of fun with this and playing their dopey silly games.

It should be no surprise that a reliable defender of the Trump administration would go so far to defend Trump’s personal lawyer amidst the Mueller investigation into alleged collusion with Russian agents who interfered with the 2016 General Election.

But what is surprising is that he appears to be arguing for the ephemeral nature of meaning itself. Mediaite readers might remember a time when conservatives appropriately mocked Bill Clinton’s memorable “depends on what the definition of is is.”

Oh, and there is also the fact that Michael Flynn pled guilty to Robert Mueller, which somewhat undermines Bongino’s larger point.
