CNN commentator and New York Times White House correspondent Maggie Haberman told Anderson Cooper that despite his public dismissiveness, President Donald Trump “does care about the polls.”

Trump’s 100th day in office — a political benchmark that dates back to FDR — arrived Tuesday amid a raft of polls showing historic unpopularity and a PR offensive from the White House that included early morning briefings, MAGA media rap sessions, a Trump rally in Michigan, and a raft of contentious Trump interviews.

Haberman was a guest on Tuesday night’s edition of CNN’s Anderson Cooper 360, during which she delivered her well-sourced and educated insights into Trump’s second first hundred days.

Cooper noted that “The President says he doesn’t care about the poll showing his approval rating underwater,” but Haberman said that’s simply not the case:

COOPER: The President says he doesn’t care about the poll showing his approval rating underwater. He dismisses them as not credible.

The stock market, though, is something he’s often pointed to and that’s certainly, you know, worse first hundred-days of any presidential term on pace for that.

HABERMAN: Yes, although he has been less reactive to the stock market than he certainly was in his first term. And we saw that over and over and over again. His first term he did do tariffs, but they were much more targeted and they took place over time and they were more surgically implemented. He was reactive to the bond markets seeming like they were going to melt down. Bonds are something he understands pretty well because he was a borrower for a long time as a real estate developer.

I think that we will see where this goes over the next couple of weeks. But yes, he is — I know he says he doesn’t care about the polls. He does care about the polls. They do take comfort in the fact that they continue to maintain that public polling by media outlets and by universities and so forth, over sample Democrats. You heard him say that, that is something his advisers say, too. But it’s clearly the trajectory is not good right now.

The Nintendo Switch 2 is nearly here. If you managed to preorder Nintendo's much-hyped Switch successor, you'll be able to play new games like Mario Kart World and Donkey Kong Bananza starting June 5.

In anticipation of the Switch 2's launch, Nintendo just rolled out a big new software update for its existing lineup of Switch consoles: the original Switch, the Switch OLED, and Switch Lite. This is version 20.0.0 of the Switch's software, and if you know anything about software, round numbers usually denote major updates.

Version 20.0.0 isn't groundbreaking, by any means—this isn't Nintendo's iOS 19—but there are a number of significant changes and features to note here. Perhaps most notably, the update lays the groundwork for the Switch 2 itself, especially if you're someone planning to move from an existing Switch over to Nintendo's newest console.

Virtual game cards and GameShare

Some of the biggest changes to ship with this update have to do with how you access and play digital games. First, there are Nintendo's new virtual game cards, which the company announced earlier this month. Virtual game cards are a workaround for playing your digital games across two of your Switches: Just as you can swap a physical game card between two of your consoles, you can choose to load and unload virtual game cards to switch which console you're playing a digital game on.

As part of this rollout, Nintendo added a brand new "Virtual Game Card" icon to the Switch Home menu. Click this icon to manage the virtual game cards on your Switches. That said, this update also adds "Online License Settings" to your Switch, which lets you play downloaded digital titles or DLC when connected to the internet—with or without the virtual game card loaded.

In addition to being able to load virtual game cards between two of your Switch consoles, you can also lend these game cards to family members for two weeks at a time, as long as you're connected within the same Nintendo Account family group. You can retrieve them at any time as long as the other party is online, but if they keep their Switch offline, you'll need to wait until the two-week time limit expires.

Speaking of sharing games, version 20.0.0 also introduces GameShare. This feature, exclusive to the Switch 2, lets you share certain software titles between Switch 2 consoles. You need to be within the same local wireless network to share software, and the feature does not work with any of the original Switch consoles.

Get ready for Switch 2

Following the update, you'll find an important new function under System Settings > System: System Transfer to Nintendo Switch 2. You will want to use this feature if you buy a Switch 2, as it allows you transfer the contents from your current Switch console to your new one. If you decide to sell or trade-in your existing Switch before you have access to the Switch 2, the feature lets you upload your data to a Nintendo server which you can download on your new console at a later time. (When you choose this method, your original Switch console will be reset to factory settings, so make sure you really plan to restore from a Switch 2 if you choose this function.)

You can also select multiple save data files to transfer at once. You'll find the option under the "Transfer Your Save Data" menu.

Other changes with Switch version 20.0.0

If you're managing a child's Switch, Nintendo added a way to protect access to the Virtual Game Card menu with a PIN or Nintendo Account login. You'll find this setting in User > User Settings.

Nintendo changed the Nintendo eShop and Nintendo Switch News icon colors, as well as "some user icons," though the company doesn't specify which in the update's release notes.

Top Trump adviser Stephen Miller told Fox News anchor John Roberts that the network needs to fire its pollster in an extremely uncomfortable moment that played out on live television.

It all started on the North Lawn of the White House Tuesday, when Roberts questioned Miller about President Donald Trump’s low poll numbers on the economy, tariffs and inflation.

“I don’t want to make things awkward for you, John, but it is our opinion that Fox News needs to fire its pollster,” Miller shot back. “I won’t surprise you with that. I don’t think you are surprised I’m saying that, but the Fox News pollster has always been wrong about President Trump.”

He added: “They were the ones that said all summer long that Kamala Harris is gonna be the 47th president of the United States, so we don’t acknowledge any of that polling.”

Fox News declined to comment.

JOHN ROBERTS: Let’s talk a little bit about successes and near-successes and things you still have to work on in terms of the first 100 days. New Fox News poll shows that the border is has been one of your big successes that cross-border illegal traffic produced by 96% illegal aliens reduced into this country reduced by 99.99% on this Fox News poll, President Trump gets big marks on that, 55% approval. He is about even on immigration in total, but everything else, he is sort of underwater and particularly on the economy, tariffs and inflation, he’s well underwater. You still has some work to do on that front. A lot of people think he’s spending too much time on tariffs and not enough time on the economy and lowering prices. What do you say?

STEPHEN MILLER: I don’t want to make things awkward for you, John, but it is our opinion that Fox News needs to fire its pollster. I won’t surprise you with that. I don’t think you are surprised that I’m saying that, but the Fox News pollster has always been wrong about President Trump. They were the ones that said all summer long that Kamala Harris is gonna be the 47th president of the United States, so we don’t acknowledge any of that polling. But I want to touch on the border issue for a quick second because this is so significant. The last four years was defined by this unceasing flow of illegal aliens across the border. How much did you cover it on Fox? How much was this an essential topic of the entire debate?

ROBERTS: You lived there basically for four years.

MILLER: And here we are, 100 days and in, and we have the lowest border crossings in American history. As you mention, only three people got in the last month but those three were all for legitimate, and valid, and documented medical reasons, in other words there was a decision to provide them care and treatment at a local hospital and medical facility. I think even you if we;re being honest, were surprised how quickly we went from an open border to a sealed border. That surely ranks not only one of the greatest achievements of this president but any president.

ROBERTS: Let me, I don’t mean to make you uncomfortable-

MILLER: You can try, you won’t succeed.

Calling out journalists on live TV is not unusual territory for Miller. Earlier this month, he snapped at Fox News host Bill Hemmer over a Supreme Court ruling on the deportation of Kilmar Abrego Garcia, arguing that “we won!”

Last month, Miller argued that MSNBC legal expert Andrew Weissmann should not be on TV, calling him a “fool” and a “degenerate.”

Though it started life on computers and mobile, YouTube is also among the most-used apps on TVs and gaming consoles. People use the service to watch gaming livestreams, video walkthroughs, and even YouTube Shorts on their much bigger screens—and the experience is about to get better. As part of its Q2 2025 update, Google has added a bunch of new features to YouTube for TVs, which should appear once you update the app.

New features in YouTube's app for smart TVs

In keeping with its push for more YouTube Shorts everywhere, Google is now making short-form videos more prominent on TVs as well. The company has added a new row for Shorts in your "Watch Next" feed, and on the "Shorts Shelf" in the subscriptions tab. This gives Shorts greater prominence and has the added advantage of separating these videos from long-form content.

Meanwhile, YouTube for TVs now lets you loop any video. This option has been added to playback settings. Previously, you could only loop playlists via the mobile app. There's also a new tab for podcasts, which lets you find and play those videos a lot quicker. 

Sort by "shelves"

In this update, a big part of Google's focus has been to create shelves that make it easier to locate different types of videos. This includes "Continue your search," which lets you see your top three searches and find the video you were after. (This feature could also be useful to find creators you watch often, but don't want to subscribe to just yet.) Another shelf is called "From your top channels," and shows videos from the creators you watch the most. 

There are a couple of new shelves dedicated to music, including "Listen again," for music you frequently play, and "Live performances, remixes, and covers," that helps you find alternative versions of your favorite music. The last new shelf is called "Primetime Channels," steering you toward content from the channels you've purchased on YouTube.

The video streaming service said it has also completed rolling out Immersive Channel Previews, which allow creators to add a personal touch to their channels by putting up fullscreen background previews in their channel headers. Creators will also be able to see TVs as a device type in channel analytics, allowing them to more effectively track where people are watching their videos.

Amazon hasn't yet released a full list of what's coming to Prime Video in May, but there are a handful of original titles ranging from documentaries to dark comedies.

First up is Another Simple Favor (May 1), a Paul Feig comedy-mystery film and sequel to 2018's A Simple Favor. Anna Kendrick and Blake Lively reprise their roles as Stephanie Smothers and Emily Nelson, this time amid a murder that takes place at Emily's wedding in Capri, Italy. Henry Golding, Andrew Rannells, Michele Morrone, and Allison Janney also appear.

At the end of the month, eight-episode thriller series The Better Sister (May 29) stars Jessica Biel and Elizabeth Banks as estranged sisters forced back together after one of their husbands is murdered. The show is an adaptation of Alafair Burke's titular novel.

In between, Phoebe Waller-Bridge will narrate two-part nature doc Octopus! (May 8), which includes an appearance by Tracy Morgan, and Jeremy Clarkson will return for Clarkson's Farm season 3 (May 23). There's also a new special from David Spade (Dandelion, May 6) and Benito Skinner's college comedy-drama Overcompensating (May 15), produced by A24.

Stephen Moore, who served as an economic adviser to President Donald Trump during his first term, issued a warning to the president during an appearance on Fox News’ America Reports Monday.

Moore’s comments came after anchor Sandra Smith observed that “Some moments from now, President Trump is set to meet with House Speaker Mike Johnson; it comes as House Republicans are gearing up to push through this big tax bill,” before prompting Moore by remarking “I can’t imagine there’s anything bigger than this as it pertains to the economy, and Republicans, and policy right now. What say you?”

“Yeah Sandra, there is no room for failure here because if this doesn’t happen, if they hit a snag and they can’t get it done, you’re talking about probably the biggest tax increase in American history,” replied Moore. “Republicans would kiss goodbye any chance of holding on to Congress in that situation. So they got to get it done.”

“I’m a little frustrated, frankly, Sandra, that it hasn’t been done already. It’s not really that complicated,” he continued. “Just extend all the Trump tax cuts. Some of the things that he campaigned on like no tax for tips, and some of these other issues — get it done. One other quick thing: If he can do that and maybe get that bill by Memorial Day, and then also if the reports are correct that they’re getting close to some of these major trade deals, I don’t know how Robert [Wolf] feels about it, but I think you could see a real boom in the stock market.”

A Fox News poll released last week suggested that a strong majority of American disapprove of Trump’s job performance on the economy thus far, and have even lower opinions of his approach to issues like tariffs and inflation.

White House Director of Communications Steven Cheung absolutely erupted on social media Sunday in response to comments made by The Daily Beast’s Joanna Coles on CNN’s Inside Politics earlier in the day.

Cheung, one of President Donald Trump’s closest allies, referred to Coles as a “piece of shit” and commented she has a “pea-sized brain” after she implied on CNN that Trump may have serious health problems indicated by “suspicious” weight loss.

Coles, chief content officer for The Daily Beast, appeared on Inside Politics to discuss a number of topics including Trump’s recent appearance at the Pope’s funeral — and apparently his weight loss.

While commenting on Trump wearing a blue suit to the funeral rather than a black one – which has been somewhat of a controversy on the left over the weekend — Coles suggested there could be trouble with Trump’s health to CNN’s Jessica Dean.

She also referred to Robert Kennedy Jr.’s disapproval of the drug Ozempic and speculated that Trump was potentially using the drug:

I was so fascinated by the whole sort of playing out of the Pope’s funeral, I guess, as opposed to memorial. Donald Trump in a blue suit, when we know he has a black suit because he was wearing a black suit the last time you met the Pope, so why wasn’t he wearing it this time? Lots of suspicion because he’s lost a lot of weight. Who knows how he’s lost weight? We know that Robert Kennedy Jr., his health minister, doesn’t approve of people taking Ozempic because he thinks it shows a lack of moral power. So, who knows how Trump has lost weight? But I found the suit color very interesting. And for someone like me, who is a boss, is a huge believer in getting people together as opposed to doing things remotely.

Coles also questioned Trump’s appointment of Hollywood producer Mark Burnett as a special envoy to London, which she claimed was creating unnecessary difficulty for Burnett.

Reacting to Coles’ comments, Cheung took to his X page, tagged Coles directly, and blasted her.

Cheung wrote, “CNN had this blithering idiot on @InsidePolitics from The Daily Beast named @JoannaColes making unsubstantiated claims about President Trump’s health. Joanna is a piece of shit, clearly suffering from a debilitating case of Trump Derangement Syndrome rotting her pea-sized brain.”

Cole did not immediately respond to Cheung’s post.

Kari Lake, the Trump administration Senior Advisor for the US Agency for Global Media, suggested Sunday that President Donald Trump should defy court orders he views as politically motivated.

Appearing on Fox News’ Sunday Morning Futures, Lake criticized federal judges who have issued rulings blocking Trump’s executive actions on immigration, tariffs, and agency reforms.

She also accused the judiciary of attempting to “subvert the will of the people” through those rulings.

“They’re completely out of control,” Lake told host Maria Bartiromo. “They are basically usurping the power of the president.”

Judges have issued temporary injunctions on immigration enforcement policies, halted tariff measures, and blocked efforts to slash jobs and funding for federal agencies, including the US Agency for Global Media. Several of these disputes are expected to advance to the Supreme Court.

Lake, who oversees media entities such as Voice of America and the Office of Cuba Broadcasting, said court rulings had delayed efforts to reshape her operation.

She told Bartiromo the Trump administration’s ultimate goal is to reduce the size of the federal government and accused courts of unlawfully stripping Trump of executive branch powers to do so.

“We’re trying to modernize it. We’re trying to shrink it down a little bit because of the bloat there,” Lake said. “The federal judge is basically saying, you can’t do that. You have to hire everybody back.”

Lake said Trump aims to consolidate operations by moving certain media agencies under the Department of State.

She blamed judges and attorneys she described as “Soros-linked” for and said some rulings against Trump have been politically motivated.

When asked whether she expects the administration’s legal battles over tariffs and trade policy to reach the Supreme Court, Lake said, “It’s gonna have to go there.”

But with regard to abiding by the courts, she concluded, “I would rather follow the Constitution than a judge who’s got an agenda.”

Senior CNN correspondent Donie O’Sullivan instantly stumped a pro-Trump White House reporter and self-proclaimed “Trump fan” who claimed she would hold him accountable, with a single question.

Since taking office or a second time, President Donald Trump and his press shop have reshaped the White House press to include an increasingly dominant cadre of pro-MAGA voices in the briefing room and in the press pool. The result has been widespread criticism of a “sycophantic” bent in questions asked at the White House.

In a new report, O’Sullivan visited the White House and interviewed Real America’s Voice Chief White House Correspondent Brian Glenn, LindellTV White House reporter Cara Castronuova, and Bannon’s War Room Co-Host and White House Correspondent Natalie Winters.

O’Sullivan confronted Glenn — who rose to prominence by hosting rally coverage for pro-Trump media outlet Right Side Broadcasting Network (RSBN) before joining the White House press pool for RAV under Trump — about his performance in a now-infamous exchange with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky:

BRIAN GLENN: Why don’t you wear a suit? Why don’ you wear suit? You’re the highest level in this country’s office.

DONIE O’SULLIVAN: And the characterization that what you were doing asking Zelensky that question, that you were trolling

BRIAN GLENN: I’m not a troll. I never have been. That was a legitimate question that I just wanted to ask. I didn’t mean to get everyone fired up like they did.

He also interviewed Castronuova, whom he introduced as “White House correspondent for LindellTV. Yes, that Lindell.”

At one point, she revealed an offbeat fact that made the intro reel: “I’m actually really good at yelling because I used to be a ring announcer.”

Castronuova described herself as a Trump supporter, but said she would “absolutely” be able to hold him to account. An instant later, O’Sullivan stumped her by asking for a single example of disagreement with the president:

DONIE O’SULLIVAN: You are a Trump fan.

CARA CASTRANUOVA: Yes, I’m definitely a supporter of President Trump.

DONIE O’SULLIVAN: So, will you be able to hold them to account then? I wouldn’t, I wouldn…

CARA CASTRANUOVA: I would, I will be able to hold 100% of him to account. You know, there’s, I’m sure things that will happen that I disagree with, and I have said plenty of times, you know, on the record when I’ve disagreed with his decision.

DONIE O’SULLIVAN: Is there anything so far in this administration you’ve disagreed with?

CARA CASTRANUOVA: I’m not going to–. Let me put some thought into that for a second. Um–.

I’m just overwhelmed, like just overwhelmed with how well I perceive things to be going.

President Donald Trump came up short when he offered French President Emmanuel Macron his hand as he prepared to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at Pope Francis’ funeral.

The 88-year-old Pope passed away Monday, and his funeral was held on Saturday at 10 AM Vatican time, six hours ahead of Eastern time.

The funeral was attended by a host of world leaders, including Trump, Great Britain’s Prince William, former President Joe Biden, British Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer, Macron, Zelensky, and many more.

During CNN’s live coverage of The Funeral of Pope Francis, Trump and Macron shook hands when the crowd was urged to do so as part of the funeral mass.

But before the mass, Trump was spotted meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on the sidelines of the event — and Macron greeted one of them with a hearty handshake and a hug — Zelensky.

When Trump extended his hand, Macron — who has a long history of weird handshakes with Trump — avoided Trump’s hand after he greeted Zelensky, seconds before the impromptu meeting. Some interpreted this as a deliberate snub:

On the latest episode of his show, Mediaite founder and owner Dan Abrams tackled the ongoing saga with the “Epstein Files” and the Department of Justice’s foot-dragging on releasing them, despite repeated promises to do so.

Epstein was convicted of procuring a child for prostitution in 2008, and served only 13 months in jail under a controversial plea deal that granted him broad work release freedoms. He was arrested again in 2019 for allegedly sex trafficking minors in Florida and New York and was found dead in his cell a little more than a month later; the medical examiner ruled his cause of death was suicide by hanging. Epstein’s prosecution ended with his demise, but his longtime confidante, Ghislaine Maxwell, was convicted and sentenced for her part in Epstein’s schemes in 2021 and is currently in prison.

The horrific stories about Epstein’s sex trafficking schemes, ongoing suspicions about his death, and his long-running associations with many other rich and powerful men have spawned countless conspiracy theories, especially in light of reports that he kept extensive video, photo, and document files as “blackmail” to wield over his famous pals.

Trump was among those Epstein friends for years until they had what Trump described as a “falling out,” generating a trove of photos and video clips frequently used by the president’s critics to openly speculate if Trump had been involved in the sex trafficking and abuse of underage girls. During a podcast last September, Trump did say that he’d have “no problem” with releasing the Epstein files.

Attorney General Pam Bondi had declared on February 21 during a Fox News appearance that she had Jeffrey Epstein’s client list “on my desk right now to review,” but the binders she passed out to a group of MAGA influencers a week later contained no new information of note. Bondi has continued to promise the files would be released soon, but thus far it has not happened.

Abrams kicked off the episode by pointing out that he’s skeptical that anything substantive would be revealed if the files were released, but it was interesting that many Trump allies in the media were “clamoring” for them to be released, and the administration had “moved quickly” to declassify and release other files regarding Martin Luther King, Jr., President John F. Kennedy, and Robert F. Kennedy.

“So what is the holdup on the Epstein files?” Abrams asked at the beginning of the latest episode. “Could it be because Donald Trump and RFK Jr. were both very friendly with Jeffrey Epstein? I don’t know that, but I wonder about it.”

FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino’s recent comments saying the Epstein files were being delayed to redact victim information made sense on their face, Abrams noted, but there was a sharp contrast with what he had said just a month prior — and FBI Director Kash Patel had gone even further in an interview last year, when he declared Trump should release the documents “on day one” if he were re-elected.

Bondi overpromising what she would release and then releasing “almost nothing” engendered “a lot of backlash,” said Abrams.

On Feb. 21, Bondi said she had the client list on her desk, and then six days later, she said the FBI withheld documents from her. “Hmm. Why?” Abrams pondered. And then in late March, Bondi went on Fox News again and said they were still working around the clock, redacting victim information from the files.

“I don’t know that that means anything,” said Abrams. “We may get the release tomorrow” because they just needed time, but he was skeptical two months was necessary.

“What we do know,” he said, “is there are numerous photos and videos of Trump with Epstein and Maxwell, as well as the flight logs that were released in 2021 — showing Trump flew on the plane seven times, despite denying that he ever had. Robert F. Kennedy Jr. had flown on Epstein’s plane at least twice.

“Are they trying to figure out how to release certain material, without potentially embarrassing either the president or some of his allies?” said Abrams. “I don’t know.”

Democratic National Committee Vice Chair David Hogg’s war with his own party is heating up after DNC Chair Ken Martin issued an ultimatum to his underling regarding Hogg’s intention to fund primary challengers to Democratic incumbents in 2026.

Earlier this month, Hogg announced that through another organization, he would spend $20 million to fund upstart candidates.

“People say they want change in the Democratic Party, but really they want change so long as it doesn’t potentially endanger their position of power,” mused Hogg in an interview with The New York Times. “That’s not actually wanting change. That’s selfishness.”

On Thursday, Martin presented Hogg with an ultimatum regarding his plan, telling reporters that “No D.N.C. officer should ever attempt to influence the outcome of a primary” and that Hogg was “more than free” to engage in such activity, but not if he wishes to carry on in his current role.

Martin also wrote an op-ed for Time Magazine Thursday in which he argued that “Recently, a DNC vice chair announced an initiative to put their thumb on the scale in democratic primaries,” before calling that plan “a mistake.”

“You can’t be both the player and the referee,” suggested Martin.

Hogg responded on social media, where he wrote:

They’re trying to change the rules because I’m not currently breaking them. As we’re seeing law firms, tech companies, and so many others bowing to Trump, we all must use whatever position of power we have to fight back. And that’s exactly what I’m doing.

This moment requires us to have the strongest opposition party possible to stop Trump from destroying people’s retirement savings, disappearing people, plunging our economy into oblivion—and to provide a real alternative to the Republican Party for voters that we simply do not have right now.

That will not change if we keep the status quo. We have no other option but to do the hard work of holding ourselves and our own party accountable.

The fact that we spent 2 BILLION dollars and still lost an election to a convicted felon who literally attempted to overthrow our government must be a cause for serious reflection and a prime example of why change is so needed.

We can’t fix a 27% approval rating by just changing our words. We need to change who we are.

Following a tariff-induced delay, retailers officially kicked off Nintendo Switch 2 preorders on Thursday. I could tell you that preorders went smoothly across all stores, and that there was plenty of stock for everyone who wanted one of Nintendo's new consoles. I could tell you that, but I'd be lying.

The Switch 2's preorder launch was never going to be seamless: The console has eight years of hype built up around it, and fans want their chance to secure the first Nintendo console to play games in 4K. Even still, the preorder situation was rough: There were endless digital queues, error screens, and, in Best Buy's case, even a late start. You might have emerged from that chaos victorious—but if you're reading this article, chances are that fate had other plans for you.

At the moment, Switch 2 stock is pretty depleted. If you search online, you'll likely see a number of "Sold Out" or "Unavailable" alerts where the "Buy Now" button should be. However, just because stores no longer have Switch 2 units to reserve for you at this time, that doesn't mean they'll be out for good. Successfully preordering a Switch 2 might just come down to being in the right place at the right time—something you can plan for, if you're savvy.

Tracking Switch 2 restocking

There are four main retailers offering Switch 2 preorders in the U.S., and none of them have consistent units in stock as of this writing. However, they all offer some hope for customers looking for a chance to reserve a console: restock notifications.

Walmart, Target, GameStop, and Best Buy all have sign-up options on their websites to opt into restock alerts. These vary depending on the site: Walmart and Target require you to log into your associated accounts in order to enroll in notifications. GameStop offers email alerts, as does Best Buy—though the latter only seems to offer general Switch 2 news via email, rather than alerts for individual product restocks.

Register for Nintendo's offer

Nintendo is selling Switch 2 units as well, but isn't offering preorders. Instead, you can "register your interest" to buy a Switch 2 from the company. In order to qualify, you need a Nintendo Account with at least 50 hours of game play—as of April 2. It's an odd requirement, but it's designed to prevent scalpers from snatching up all the Switch 2s. (Nintendo doesn't want you to make multiple Nintendo Accounts this month and register each.)

Once you register your interest, Nintendo places you on a list on a first-come, first-serve basis. Since you're a bit late to the game, you might be low on this list, but that's okay: Many of the customers who sign up might be fighting for preorders at other stores too, and if they get it, they may reject Nintendo's invitation—bumping your place up in line. At this time, Nintendo says deliveries might roll past June 5, as well as invitations themselves. Still, it's a great backup in case you're not successful preordering at the other stores.

President Donald Trump expressed approval Thursday after a reporter asked Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre whether Trump should be nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize for his efforts to end the war between Russia and Ukraine.

The exchange took place during a joint appearance at the White House, where Støre came to negotiate with Trump on tariffs.

During the meeting, Støre was asked whether he felt Trump was deserving of a peace prize for his unsuccessful efforts to end the fighting in Europe.

“Mr. Prime Minister, I was wondering whether you think that Donald Trump, for his activity in Ukraine and otherwise, deserves to be nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize?” the reporter asked.

“Well, I salute President Trump for having – taking very important initiatives to get this conflict towards an end, which both parties deserve,” Støre responded. “We need to have a ceasefire, save lives, and move towards something which is more secure for Europe, for the people concerned. And on that we work together. And I look forward to going into some details.”

Trump responded positively immediately after the exchange.

“Thank you very much for that question,” he said. “I like that question.”

The question came hours after Trump posted a message from his Truth Social account appealing directly to Russian President Vladimir Putin.

In the post, Trump called for an end to Russian strikes on Ukraine’s capital city and urged the Russian leader to come to the negotiating table. Trump wrote:

I am not happy with the Russian strikes on KYIV. Not necessary, and very bad timing. Vladimir, STOP! 5000 soldiers a week are dying. Lets get the Peace Deal DONE!

Russia invaded Ukraine in February 2023. Since then, Trump has repeatedly said he could help broker a peace agreement to end the conflict.

He has claimed the war would not have happened had he won the 2020 election and campaigned on a promise to end the conflict on his first day in office.

When you're selling your home, many factors can influence whether it sits on the market for weeks or gets multiple offers right away. Everything from its location to its condition can affect the speed of the sale and the final price, and you don’t always have control over all of them.

One thing you can control—at least to a degree—is the your home's lighting. “In my experience, buyers aren't just buying square footage; they're buying a feeling,” says Jonathan Ayala, a real estate agent at Hudson Condos in New Jersey. “And lighting is a subtle but powerful way to exert that influence. It's the difference between a buyer perceiving ‘this space needs work’ and ‘I can see myself living here.’

How your house is lit can have a big impact on how fast your house sells—and the price you get for it. Here’s are five factors to think about to improve your home's lighting.

Choose the right bulbs

Every lightbulb in your home is defined by three measurements: Watts (the amount of energy it uses), lumens (its brightness), and kelvin (its color temperature). When it comes to making an impression on home buyers, you should concentrate mainly on lumens and kelvin. Bulbs with a lumens rating of at least 800 are best to give the house a bright, open feeling—and you can go as high as 2,000 lumens if your home lacks natural light or simply feels dark.

Color temperature is just as important. For reference, the sun at noon on a clear day has a color temperature of about 5,000-6,000k. “Lighting affects both how large and how welcoming a home feels,” notes Ayala. “I put up a three-bedroom ranch about two or three years ago where the insides looked thick and dated. The original owner had [installed] heavy drapes and low-wattage bulbs. Even before putting up a sign in the front yard for sale, I had the seller replace all the bulbs with daylight LEDs, (about 5000k). The change was dramatic: From a dark living room that felt cave-like, the home [became] bright, clean, and modern."

The home wound up receiving multiple offers in a week and sold for more than $25,000 above asking. "I do not think that it would have happened without those simple lighting upgrades,” Alaya said.

In general, it’s best to choose bulbs that offer higher color temperatures in the “public” areas of the house, like the kitchen or living room, and warmer, lower temperatures in bedrooms, to give them a cozier feel. Temperatures in the 2400-2700k range can have a yellowing effect on white kitchens or furniture that can make a space feel old and worn, so choose carefully.

You should also consider lighting direction, Ayala notes. “Uplighting can highlight architectural features, accent lights would draw attention to art, and ambient lighting would warm up a room—every small thing matters when preparing a home for market.”

“Great lighting makes a space more functional,” adds Bo Belmont, a real estate investor and founder and CEO of Belwood Investments. “For example, lighting over the sink or kitchen counter can make these areas easier to work in. A well-lit entryway can also make buyers feel safer and more secure.”

Keep the style consistent

Lighting isn’t just about light—it’s also about the fixtures. Old fixtures that are showing their age will make a space look dated, even if the light itself is on point. Simply upgrading the fixtures without considering the overall style of the house won’t be effective: If your house has a modern, minimalist vibe and you install ornate brass fixtures, they might appear old to buyers due to the contrast, while slapping modern fixtures in a house with a country chic vibe might look cheap.

First impressions matter

Omer Reiner, a Realtor at FL Cash Buyer’s in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, cautions that you can't forget the exterior lighting. “If a potential buyer pulls up and can’t make out the house number because lights are dim, they are immediately on alert before they even step inside.” Make sure exterior lights are installed, in working condition, and are bright enough and aimed properly.

This extends to the foyer or entryway. Having a bright exterior feels welcoming—unless the front door opens to a dark, shadowy space. Lighting can elevate buyers’ moods as they enter the house or give them a sense of foreboding, so make sure they make it inside without having to use their phone as a flashlight.

Emphasize natural light

When thinking about your home’s lighting, don’t forget about the most obvious aspect: Natural light. “Natural light is the most appreciated,” says Alexei Morgado, a Florida Realtor and CEO and Founder of Lexawise Real Estate Exam Preparation. “It helps make spaces feel larger and more inviting. Maximizing natural lighting in a home can require expensive renovations, but there are some simple tricks: Opening curtains and blinds before and during showings, making sure windows are clean to allow light to penetrate, and trimming any exterior foliage that may block sunlight.”

You should also consider your window treatments: While opening up the curtains or blinds can let light in, heavy, light-blocking treatments will always darken a room a little. Lighter materials will let more light in and will contribute to a sense of lightness in terms of weight and style as well.

Keep them maintained

Finally, all the right decisions will be for naught if you don’t conduct proper maintenance and upkeep on your lighting. If you’re planning to show your home to prospective buyers, inspect the house and:

• Look for burnt-out bulbs. Dead bulbs aren’t always obvious when you’re living in the home (especially when they’re part of track lighting or back-lit decorations). Dead bulbs convey a sense of disrepair while also subtly darkening the space, directly contradicting your efforts.

• Check for broken fixtures. Cracked, stained, or crooked fixtures will draw the eye and will make buyers think there are other, less obvious problems with the house. Flickering lights or fixtures that spark will need to be repaired immediately, for obvious reasons).

• Make sure everything is aligned. If you have aimed your lighting to accentuate certain features, make sure they haven’t “drifted.”

President Donald Trump took questions from the press on Wednesday outside the White House and was asked if he was nearing a deal with China to lower his massive tariffs on the country. The exchange came a day after Trump appeared to back down from his trade war with China. “145% is very high and it won’t be that high. It won’t be anywhere near that high. It’ll come down substantially. But it won’t be zero,” Trump told reporters in the Oval Office on Tuesday — sparking a surge in the markets.

“Can you clarify, Mr. President, on China?” asked an off-camera reporter.

“Yeah, we are going to have a fair deal with China. It’s going to be fair,” Trump replied.

“Are you talking to them actively now?” pressed the reporter.

“Actively? Everything’s active. Everybody wants to be a part of what we’re doing. They know that they can’t get away with it any longer, but they’re still going to do fine. And we’re going to be a country that you can be proud of. Not a laughing stock all over the world for many years,” Trump replied, before going on a lengthy pro-tariff riff:

You know, in 1913, they traded to the income tax system. We used to be all-tariff! And we had no income tax. And we had the wealthiest country we had proportionately from about 1870 to 1913. It was all tariffs. And we did — we had more money than anybody. They had committees how to spend the money. They had so much money, they didn’t know how to.

Then some brilliant person said, ‘Let’s go income tax, let’s let the people pay.’ We’re going to be able to substantially lower taxes when this is finished.

“So, Mr. President, how does it look in the meantime? Are you considering lowering tariffs on China while you’re negotiating?” another reporter asked.

“It looks good. We were losing anywhere from $3 to $5 billion a day. Think of it. We’re losing billions of dollars a day under Biden and other presidents, frankly. But under Biden, it got really worse. China got out of control. We’re losing a trillion dollars a year. Trillion. Not a billion, not a million. A trillion. And now we’re going to be making money with everyone, and everyone is going to be happy. But we’re no longer going to be the country that’s ripped off by every country in the world. Thank you very much,” Trump concluded.

There are a lot of trends in generative AI right now. There are the reasoning models like OpenAI's o3, that "think" through each step of a problem before it answers. There are also "deep research" features that can compile information from across the web to generate reports for you.

But perhaps the trend that is most "futuristic" of all is Voice Mode. This is the future 2013's Her promised: a chatbot that you can talk to like any other person. The chatbot doesn't say anything differently than it would if you were chatting over text; however, it responds in a "realistic" and "natural" voice, which could create the illusion that you're talking to a person, not a robot.

I've never found the feature to be particularly engaging, even from big names like ChatGPT. The tech is impressive, sure, but it's still painfully obvious to my ear that I'm talking to a bot. AI companies haven't been able to shake these identifying quirks, but that hasn't stopped people from forming "relationships" with chatbots—even falling in love with them.

What's more impressive to me is the feature's "vision" component. Some chatbots can not only talk back to you, but can access your camera to see what you're seeing, and incorporate that information in its replies. Both ChatGPT and Gemini offer these features, and now, so does Grok.

Grok can see

Grok is the latest chatbot to gain this ability in its Voice Mode. xAI developer Ebby Amir announced the feature, dubbed "Grok Vision," on X Tuesday, noting that Grok Vision supports multilingual audio as well as realtime search. Those latter features are exclusive to SuperGrok subscribers, however.

The feature is already live on my end. You can access it by tapping the existing Voice Mode option. If you haven't used this feature already, you'll need to grant Grok permission to access your device's microphone. Following this, you'll be able to start chatting immediately.

However, to access Vision, you'll need to tap the camera icon in the bottom left corner. Here, allow Grok to access your camera. Once the feed is live, you can start asking Grok about what it sees.

I'm not super keen on sending my live video feed directly to xAI, so I kept my phone directly on the table, so the video feed was all black. Grok, to its credit, tried earnestly to help me fix the problem, suggesting there might be something wrong with the camera, or that my environment was too dark. When I informed it that I had actually taken my phone up to outer space with me, it "laughed," and concluded that had to be the problem: "Ha, outer space, huh? That black feed makes sense now—no light out there, and the camera’s probably not designed for that environment. You might need a space-grade device to get a proper feed."

This is the second big feature drop for Grok this month. Last week, xAI rolled out a memory feature for the bot, which allows it to access past conversations for more relevant responses.

Shannon Sharpe called the sexual assault lawsuit against him a “shakedown” after the lawyer representing his accuser released audio from an alleged phone call.

On Monday, TMZ reported that Sharpe was being sued for $50 million. The woman — identified only as Jane Doe — accused Sharpe of raping her multiple times between late 2024 and early 2025. According to the suit the two began a consensual relationship prior to that, but the assaults allegedly took place after she tried to end the relationship.

In response to that initial report, Sharpe published a statement from his legal counsel on social media. The statement included multiple sexually explicit text messages that allegedly came from Sharpe’s accuser. Sharpe’s team argued that the texts proved the nature of the relationship was consensual.

The next day, Tony Buzbee — the Jane Doe’s lawyer — sent TMZ a 96-second clip from a supposed phone call she had with Sharpe. In the clip, the two people appear to be arguing about something when the female voice said, “Don’t manipulate me.” In response, the male voice said, “If you say that word one more time, I’m gonna fucking choke the shit out of you when I see you.”

Shortly after that report, Sharpe posted a video explaining the situation on social media. He specifically attacked Buzbee — who’s been involved in other high-profile lawsuits — and called the lawsuit nothing more than an attempt to extort him.

He said:

To my family, friends, supporters, and colleagues, I want to speak to you directly and from the heart. This is a shakedown. I’m gonna be open, transparent, and defend myself because this isn’t right. This is all being orchestrated by Tony Buzbee — who has targeted Jay-Z. Tony Buzbee targets black men, and I believe he’s going to release a 32-second clip of a sex tape that tries to make me look guilty and play into every stereotype you could possibly imagine.

That video should actually be 10 minutes or so. Hey, Tony, instead of releasing your edit, put the whole video out. I don’t have it or I would’ve myself. You know what happened and you’re trying to manipulate the media.

The encounter in question took place during the day at her invitation, and now that appears to be a deliberate setup coordinated by Gabby — also known as Carly on OnlyFans. Gabby and Tony Buzbee want $50 million. What they’re getting is sued for defamation and trying to take me down.

If you receive nude photos via Google Messages, your Android device will soon detect and blur them with a sensitive content warning before you can view them. The feature, which is being rolled out to all users, also allows you to block numbers that send NSFW images and alerts you before you can send or forward them.

When sensitive content warnings are turned on, users will be directed to a resource page (tap Learn why nude images can be harmful) and see an option to block the sender's number. You can choose to open the image you receive (tap Next > Yes, view or No, don't view) and unblur and re-blur by tapping the Preview icon.

How to enable Google's sensitive content warnings

Sensitive content warnings are opt-in for adults, so you'll need to enable the feature in your Google Messages settings under Protection & Safety > Manage sensitive content warnings. Flip the toggle next to Warnings in Google Messages.

For Android users under 18, sensitive content warnings are on by default. Those with supervised accounts cannot control or turn the feature off by themselves, though parents can do so in the Family Link app. Unsupervised teens ages 13–17 can disable the feature in their Google Account settings.

According to 9to5Google, this feature is currently available only on some Android devices running the Messages beta, so it may not appear in your settings yet. Sensitive content warnings do not currently work on videos.

All detection happens on-device powered by Android's SafetyCore, meaning no identifiable data or classified content is sent to Google servers.

House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer published a scathing letter denying House Democrats’ request for an official visit to the El Salvador prison CECOT.

Sen. Chris Van Hollen made headlines when he took it upon himself to fly to the country and visit Kilmar Abrego Garcia — the Salvadoran national who was deported from the state and detained in El Salvador’s notorious maximum security prison. Immigration officials have maintained that Abrego Garcia is a member of the gang MS-13; but Abrego Garcia’s legal team has argued that no evidence has been provided to back up that allegation. Despite a Supreme Court order stating that President Donald Trump’s administration must “facilitate” his return to the U.S., Trump officials have vowed that he will never return.

A delegation of House Democrats — led by Florida’s Maxwell Frost and California’s Robert Garcia — submitted a request for an official visit to El Salvador “advocate for due process and the return” of Abrego Garcia. In response, Comer slammed the Democrats for “seeking travel at Committee expense to meet with foreign gang members.”

On Friday, Comer said:

I write in response to your letter of April 15, 2025 requesting that I approve, from the Committee’s budget, official travel for you both to visit the country of El Salvador to meet with a foreign MS-13 gang member whose wife accused him of crimes and who is strongly suspected of human trafficking.

It is absurd that you both displayed active hostility for over two years toward the Committee’s oversight of the Biden Border Crisis and the consequences of millions of illegal aliens entering the country, yet now, you are seeking travel at Committee expense to meet with foreign gang members. You may be pleased to know that a Democrat Senator, Chris Van Hollen, was photographed just yesterday in El Salvador enjoying margaritas garnished with cherry slices with the foreign gang member your letter references.

If you also wish to meet with him, you can spend your own money. But I will not approve a single dime of taxpayer funds for use on the excursion you have requested.

Your request is denied.

Although Comer refused to allow the use of taxpayer money for the trip, Republicans made a similar trip just days before his decision. Led by Missouri Rep. Jason Smith, several Republican congressmen joined an official delegation, visited the prison, and took photos of the trip for social media.

Though the source of funding for that trip has not been disclosed, Van Hollen said in a Sunday interview on Fox News that it — like his own trip — was taxpayer-funded.

Meta is getting serious about the teens who use its services. Last year, the company rolled out "Teen Accounts" for Instagram, which add a number of restrictions, limitations, and features for users under the age of 18. Earlier this month, Meta rolled out Teen Accounts to Facebook and Messenger as well, and expanded some of those restrictions on Instagram specifically.

If your teen had a standard Instagram account when Meta started rolling this out, their account was automatically changed into a Teen Account. Of course, that only worked if they had their real age attached to the account: If a teen said their birthday made them 18 or older, no Teen Account for them.

Meta's AI is snitching on Instagram teens

In response to this loophole, Meta is tasking its AI with rooting out teens purporting to be adults on Instagram. The company announced the experiment on Monday, revealing that tests will begin in the United States that same day. Meta is brief on the details here, but they do say that if the AI finds a standard account it suspects to be a teen, it will automatically switch them to a Teen Account—even if that account has an adult birthday.

This also isn't Meta AI's first rodeo. The company has used an AI model trained to identify whether a user is underage since 2022. The AI model looks for behaviors associated with teen users, as, according to Meta, people in the same age group react similarly to specific types of content. (Think about all those memes you don't understand.)

One interesting "tell" comes with birthday posts: The AI looks at how users interact with an account on their birthday, and can make a determination from there. If the AI is seeing a lot of "happy 17th birthday" posts and DMs, that's going to be quite obvious, but even if the messages track with how users under 18 tend to wish each other a happy birthday, the AI will get suspicious fast.

What happens if the AI gets it wrong?

There are probably many parents out there that have no issue with Instagram automatically changing their kids' profiles to Teen Accounts. But this tech is driven by AI, and AI doesn't always get it right: As such, there's a good chance that the AI accidentally flags adult accounts as teens by mistake, locking users 18 and older into restrictions meant for minors.

That means your account will automatically take on some pretty drastic restrictions: You'll go private if you aren't already, and adult users won't be able to see your posts or DM you without following first. You won't see "violent" content, or posts promoting cosmetic procedures. (Perhaps no loss there.) Instagram will also warn you whenever you use the app for 60 minutes in one day, advising you to stop. And while you don't need to, your account will enter "sleep mode" between 10 p.m. and 7 a.m., muting alerts and sending auto-replies to DMs. (To be fair, perhaps many of us adults would benefit from these restrictions.)

If Instagram thinks you're 16 or 17, you'll be able to manually disable some of these limitations, but that's not really the point. If you're an adult, you shouldn't expect Instagram to change the parameters of your account because its AI bot got it wrong. Meta knows it, too. As the company says it its blog post: "We’re taking steps to ensure our technology is accurate and that we are correctly placing teens we identify into protective, age-appropriate settings, but in case we make a mistake, we’re giving people the option to change their settings."

The company hasn't said exactly what those mitigation steps are yet, so I'll update this piece once we know for sure. My guess, however, is there will be an option in settings to verify your age and transfer your account back to an adult account.
