MSNBC host Alex Witt corrected her own colleague who referred to migrants as “illegal aliens” during a report on Sunday afternoon.

On Alex Witt Reports, Witt brought on correspondent Priya Sridhar to provide an update on the mass deportations enacted by President Donald Trump. At the time of the report, Sridhar was at the U.S.-Mexico border in El Paso, Texas.

While giving a breakdown of a clip shown on the broadcast, Sridhar said:

“I want you guys to take a look at this video that we saw just this morning from the DEA, ATF and Homeland Security investigators out of the Rocky Mountain Division in Colorado. There, you can see a raid that was conducted this morning. They say that they were targeting a Venezuelan gang and they were able to seize cash, weapons and actually made an arrest of ’50 illegal aliens’ right there, Alex.”

Sridhar’s note about “50 illegal aliens” was a direct quote from a statement about the raid. Witt was quick t0 amend the terminology.

“We call them undocumented immigrants,” Witt said at the end of the segment. “But that, again, was in the release from the DEA. OK, thank you very much, Priya, for that from El Paso.”
