Sandy Hook Families Accuse Alex Jones of Destroying Evidence in Defamation Case
Attorneys representing two families of Sandy Hook victims have submitted a court filing accusing Alex Jones of destroying evidence pertaining to their defamation lawsuit against him.
The Infowars conspiracy factory chief is still fighting multiple legal battles with the families accusing him of causing them emotional distress by fueling the lunatic idea that the Newtown massacre was a staged hoax. A motion filed in a Texas state court says that lawyers for the plaintiffs have accused Jones of ordering his staff to delete content from his website.
The claim cites one of Jones’ most recent radio programs, during which he supposedly ordered the deletion in response to a CNN report on how many times InfoWars violated Twitter user guidelines with their online content. Indeed, several of Jones’ tweets were purged after the network’s report went out.
“The loss of this evidence prejudices plaintiffs’ case because InfoWars deleted social media and video evidence related to the Sandy Hook shooting,” the filing says, according to Associated Press. “This evidence could have established key elements of plaintiffs’ defamation claim.”
Jones has been in the news a lot lately since multiple social media platforms decided to ban him for encouraging violence and other violations of user policy. Twitter is only banning Jones for a week, but Facebook, Youtube, and other websites decided to enforce harsher penalties against him for his infractions.
