Ben Shapiro and Bill Maher had a fiery debate about President Donald Trump, Russia, and the Mueller investigation.

After Maher accused the president of wanting to “make Russia great again” by working with Vladimir Putin,” Shapiro pushed back by comparing this administration’s treatment of Russia versus the previous one.

“He’s been a lot harsher on Putin than Obama was by the way,” Shapiro told Maher. “Not in terms of his rhetoric, in terms of his actions. He’s armed the people of Ukraine with deadly weaponry, which Obama would not do. 200 Russian soldiers were killed in Syria by U.S. forces under Donald Trump, not under Barack Obama. Because it was Barack Obama who said to Dmitry Medvedev aying that he wanted to provide Putin with flexibility in 2012. Crimea was annexed under Barack Obama.”

“Wow, this reminds me of when people hit ya just to come on the show and try to convince me that Saddam Hussein, you know, a radical Islamist, when he was actually a secularist,” Maher responded. “You’d have to go a long way to make that argument.”

“Not on policy,” Shapiro stressed.

Maher then blasted Trump for “defending” Putin, which Shapiro agreed was “crappy stuff,” and invoked the 19 Russians that were indicted by Special Counsel Robert Mueller.

“I have a question; do you actually think that Donald Trump colluded with Vladimir Putin?” Shapiro asked.

“Yes!” Maher exclaimed. “You don’t?!? How could you not?”

“I do not because I watched that campaign. I don’t think that Donald Trump could collude with his own left foot,” Shapiro quipped.

“Well, I don’t think he did it,” Maher clarified. “But, you know, his son did it. The people who has indicted-”

“And when the evidence comes out, I’m happy to go with the indictments. I’m fine with the indictments. Criminal activity is criminal activity,” Shapiro continued. “But I’m not going to contribute something to Trump when he’s too ignorant to have done it.”

“Well, he’s not too ignorant to be a criminal, Ben,” Maher retorted. “He’s been a criminal his whole life.”

“I don’t know how I became the Trump defender here, but is he a doofus or an evil genius?” Shapiro followed. “You gotta pick one.”
