Fox News Guest Says Kim Jong Un ‘Sees Trump as Kind of Weak’: He Came ‘Halfway Around the World Twice’

According to the distance calculating website Dateandtime.com, it is approximately 9,000 miles from Washington, DC to Hanoi, Vietnam — where President Donald Trump sat down with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un over the past two days. Kim, on the other hand, had only 1,700 miles to travel. One expert said this fact did not go unnoticed by the North Korean leader.

Appearing on The Daily Briefing Thursday on Fox News, Ian Bremmer, president of the Eurasia group, said that he believes Kim thought he could get a favorable deal out of Trump considering he had — if not the home court advantage — then something close to it.

“Kim Jong Un decided that he was going to be a maximalist,” Bremmer said. “Because it’s not like he has any experience engaging in direct negotiations. He sees Trump as kind of weak, as coming over halfway around the world twice. And so, hey, ‘He’ll take anything I give him.'”

Whatever was offered did not appeal to Trump, as the two sides walked away from the summit without a signing ceremony. That, according to Bremmer, was for the best.

“He didn’t take it,” Bremmer said. “He walked away. That was the right move.”
