CNN’s Dana Bash and Fox News’ Mark Levin found some common ground on the subject of cursing following a fiery Senate hearing in which Dr. Anthony Fauci invoked the Fifth Amendment more than 100 times.

Both Bash and Levin blasted the use of profanity during the Wednesday hearing. Fauci faced tough questions from heated Republican senators over the Covid-19 pandemic, the virus’s origins, and lockdown measures previously taken. Many accused him of tarnishing his legacy, but Sen. Bernie Moreno (R-OH) threw multiple expletives at Fauci, including asking him, “Who the f*ck do you think you were, doing that!?”

On Thursday’s Inside Politics, Bash played a clip of the heated moment with Moreno, who blasted Fauci over lockdown measures taken during the pandemic and said they were his motivation for running for office.

“Here I am, sitting in front of you six years later, saying: who the f*ck do you think you were, doing that!? It is a total disgrace, what you did to this country,” the senator said.

“Yup. That was a United States senator in a formal hearing directing an F-bomb at an 85-year-old scientist who devoted his life to public service and public health…Really?” Bash said.

The CNN anchor argued the moment “eroded Senate hearing decorum, whatever’s left of it, more than most.”

It was not the only curse word Moreno threw at Fauci, the former director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases. At another point, Moreno asked Fauci if he thought he was in “deep sh*t” because he brought a team of lawyers to the hearing.

Bash said the profanity allowed Moreno to break through the “cacophony” of criticism thrown at Fauci and she argued the use of curses is becoming a “stunning” trend in Washington, D.C., from President Donald Trump on down.

Bash echoed comments made by Levin about the moment at the Fauci hearing. The Fox News host took to X to voice his disapproval on Wednesday evenin.

“Call me a prude, but I do not like public officials using the “f -word” in public, where little kids can hear it or even proper adults don’t like it,” he wrote.
